How to delete CourseView (golf) maps on Epix 2?

Hey folks...

So I found discussions on the Fenix 6 and Fenix 7 forums about how to delete CourseView golf maps (I don't play golf, don't need the maps, why can't I delete these 1GB worth of maps via Garmin Express?).

Is the process any different on the Epix 2, for anyone who's done this?

Also, is there any plan to modify Garmin Express to allow deletion of maps?

I looked at the thread about deleting CourseView maps:

... and looked at the maps on my Epix 2. The files have slightly different names (or, at least, some of them do).

However, I opened one up in a binary file editor, and found they contain their names in the files. Here are the files and what type they are (these may change in the future when new map revisions arrive, I'd suppose):

D1399440A.img CourseView Europe, Middle East & Africa
D2419390A.img CourseView Pacific
D2471440A.img CourseView Americas
D4712040A.img Map North America
D7249100A.img TopoActive Americas, North
D7672030A.img SkiView
D7725060A.img TopoActive RDA North America
D7753050A.img TopoActive Americas, Central

Delete at your own risk, but judging by that thread above, it looks like it shouldn't cause any problems.

Apparently those maps are needed for some Garmin features. There was a post about this a while back and also something I had back from Garmin in reply when I asked about deleting them. Even then, I was still unclear why they are there and cannot be removed by those of us who do not play golf. I understand some people have removed them but since my watch is stable and I don't need the space I haven't bothered and just left them there.

Do you know what Golf/CourseView maps would be needed for? Some folks reported no issues when they deleted the gold maps.

I don't Tim. It was unclear just that they were needed. But, as you say, some have deleted them and have had no problems.

I have deleted the golf course maps, too. No problems. But I really have not heard, that they are needed for some features (except for golf features).

And you can add them easily via Express...

Better via Express - manually, if you are sure about the map name.

If any sports should have their own headers I would have expected running, hiking or something like that but not Golf, it's just really weird and confusing.
