Epix 2 maps

Hi,

I was interested in the garmin map img files installed on EPIX 2, and I was able to associate all IMG files with a map, except one.

So, what I could identified are (if any of you may be interested):

gmapbmap.img: - Worldwide base map
gmaptz.img - Timezone map

D1399430A.img : Golf Map - CourseView Europe, Middle East & Africa
D2419380A.img : Golf Map - CourseView Pacific
D2471430A.img : Golf Map - CourseView Americas
D4713070A.img : DEM Map EU 2020.10
D6184110A.img : TopoActive Europe 2021 20. East v21.20
D6185110A.img : TopoActive Europe 2021 20. West v21.20
D9486000A.img :TopoActive Europe 2021 20. Central v21.20

BUT, there is one (pretty large: 2.7GB) which neither I could not identified, nor Basecap could load it:

D7726060A.img : ?

Also, it should not even be there, as Garmin Express installer doesnt indicate anything else installed.

Is there anyone may know what is this ?

Strange, I always have the map ending with A never B. Hmmm, more thing to research

From Garmin Express the Ski maps can be removed, but not Golf... Why Garmin? I don't care about golf and could use the storage for other things...

Fully agree, but are you sure you cant remove the golf maps manually ? Of course after you made a backup.

I removed golf maps without further issues.

i am wondering the same... what will happen when you just delete the file (TopoActive RDA Europe 2021.20) with file explorer at the watch itself

Garmin has now fixed the Europe map issue when uploading from Garmin Express (it does not require a new version of firmware or Garmin Express). They notified me of the fix and I checked that it worked.

The proper RDA file is indeed called D7726060B.img (with a B unlike all of the other map files). This is what the watch itself downloaded from Wifi and what Garmin Express now correctly uploads. It does _not_ appear as a standalone map (it's part of the Europe bundle).

I don't know if Garmin Express knows how to "fix" an incorrect installation, but you can always uninstall the Europe map, manually remove the D7726060A.img (with a A) file and reinstall Europe from the watch or Garmin Express.

Absolutely no problem. Since I am using TalkyTsker maps, this first thing I do to manually remove them.

My watch claims there's an update for every installed map, but accordig to Garmin Express they are up to date. Who to believe?

I installed my region from Garmin Express, not the watch wifi, if that makes any difference?
