No audio prompts through phone

I recently received my Epix 2 as an upgrade from my old Forerunner 945. After a couple of runs I noticed that I'm no longer hearing audio prompts on each lap. I always run/bike/walk with airpod pros connected to my iphone listening to podcasts or music. Sometimes with maps navigation as well. On the fr945 this combination always worked.

Here's everything I've tried:

1) toggling the prompts settings off/on with syncs in between

2) rebooting the watch and phone

3) re-pairing multiple times

4) re-installing garmin connect on my iphone

5) connecting airpod pros directly to the watch (this does make audio prompts work, but it's not how I want to use them)

6) connecting watch to garmin express on my computer and updating watch + maps

7) resetting watch to default settings

8) manual laps via button press and auto laps (neither work)

Has anyone else experienced this? Did I miss any troubleshooting steps I should try? Should I try anything in particular again to double check?

I doubt it matters, but:

Watch: epix 2 saphire titanium black

Watch software version: 7.20

Phone: iphone 13 mini

Garmin express version: 7.11.0.0

Same problem, and almost same combination of devices /Epix+Mini 12/ - no prompts. Works fine with 745 though.

Same issue here when running with phone. Without phone, and listening to onboard music the audio prompts work as they should.

I solved this by uninstalling my older watch with Connect IOS - deleted the bluetooth connection from IOS Settings. Then I added back the Epix and I am getting audio prompts. I then reinstalled my older Garmin watch and they both worked fine. I am still not able to solve the Notifications issue - where I either get all notifications or none. Hope this helps.

Same problem here with 7X Sapphire Solar firmware v 7.20, iphone 13 (ios 15.3, Connect app v4.51.0.40). Works fine on my old 5X Plus. Have raised with Garmin.

This is still an issue. None of the alerts go to the phone after many updates and changes as reflected throughout this post/comments. #Garminsupport This reflects poorly on code and regression testing. How can a product be released with documented features that simply do not work? I had a older Fenix - worked just fine. I purchased a used Forerunner 245 - works just fine. Brand new Epix - does not work. Does not matter if the app was reinstalled, phone rebooted, watch removed added, iPhone 13, iPhone 11, S10e - all the same results. This is a CODE issue. If the watch can send alerts to the headphones, if the watch can send activity updates to the phone, if the phone can send workouts to the watch, then the code needs to be reviewed. Probably 120 hours of review across 3 engineers over 1 week and complete the bug fix. Having left Garmin due to a lack of simple reporting on HR Zone metrics (still not there) I am very disappointed to have come back with an Epix purchase and Edge Explorer purchase. #garminengeering this needs to be a Severity Level "Critical".
