Others with Audio dropouts using Beats Fit Pro’s and Epix 2?

Wearing my Epix 2 sapphire on the left hand.  Notice frequent audio dropouts over BT using my Beats Fit Pro’s during a run activity.  Switching to Mono makes no difference (although unsure if that should affect marginal BT performance).

Swapped over to my older Powerbeats BT headphones (this model is also BT, but each earpiece is wired to the other rather than being independent) and no issues at all.

Wondering if anyone else observing this.

Have considered swapping the Epix to the Right hand, but would rather avoid that hassle in all honesty.

  • That's 1:1 what I am experiencing and more or less the eaxct same setup (but I am on FW 8.37 and I do not run with my phone)…  But the Jabras work perfectly whereas the Beats Fit Pros (and the Airpods Pro) don't.

  • Hi Chris, I have the same issue.. but can’t seem to highlight your name here. If you can add me that would be great.

  • Having the same issue on Epix 2 FW 8.37, Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro dropping out all the time, same with Polar H7 but not so frequently. When both are connected either are not usable so I have to disconnect either HRM or headphones. Had no issues whatsoever on Fenix 6 Pro with same setup. Any news on this, should I replace the device under warranty if its a hardware issue?

    Edit:

  • Hi Chris, I unsure how to PM you, but please reach out and add me to the list for tracking.

I’m interested to know if this is software fix or, as some are reporting, something that needs a device exchange to address.

The audio quality issues I experienced earlier are resolved w previous firmware updates, but the BT headset disconnection problem does still happen.

  • I unsure how to PM you

If you're on a PC (not mobile) hover mouse over the name, then select Send a private message.

  • Thx for the tip.. indeed, works well if not using iOS (clearly spending too much time on the iPad) :-)

  • Has any progress been made on this? I get almost constant dropouts on my Pixel Buds Series-A and intermittent dropouts on my Plantronics Backbeat headphones. I already received a replacement watch and that didn't seem to make any difference. I have not had any issues with either of these headphones on other devices.

  • My Jaybird Vista buds still don't work 100%, the audio is glitchy although they seem to hold a connection so that's a big improvement over it being dropped. My Sony wf-1000xm4 work pretty much perfectly I think.

Bear in mind I'm in the Alpha and running version 9.22

  • Same with Pixel Buds 2. I will test with the Pixel Buds Pro when they arrive.

  • Garmin support has been super helpful, but I also found that a replacement watch didn’t help (actually, in my case the replacement watch appears to have an even harder time maintaining a connection to my Beats Fit Pro’s (unusable rate of disconnects now) and Powerbeats (went from about one disconnnect in 10 runs to 2-3 disconnects during each run).  So, while its possible a replacement will help, it also seems possible that it might make things worse *although I’m only one data point for that). Something to consider if you’re thinking of exploring that route though…

I have decided to try a different/new pair of BT headphones to see if that will make a difference.  I’ll be seeing if the Shokz Openrun bone conducting headset will provide a more reliable connection.  Performance seemed better on the last couple of runs, but I was far from potential interference sources.  I’ll see how they perform on my usual suburban neighborhood run…

The mystery for me is why some people experience reliable connectivity to the same model of headphones (Beats Fit Pro & Powerbeats), while others do not.
