So I really want an aftermarket hand made leather strap.
Can I remove the pins? There seems to be some confusion.

Please read my posts before assuming anything.
I think it might be important to re-state what we have so far because there may be assumptions being made which are not based on facts in…
Take it to a jeweller
I have been an amateur watchmaker for over 20 years and dealt with all manner of springbars on watches from small to large; single flange, double flange and no flange;…
I can't remove mine... Probably possible to destroy the original bars and install an aftermarket springbar, but not willing to try that yet.
I really don't understand why Garmin decided to use this…
Indeed.
I have not seen a single epix with a removed pin.
Btw: I have asked dcr about that. He noticed the same for F7/Epix series devices and wanted to consult Garmin. No feedback yet.
The end flange fits in the spring bar opening. The second flange does not, so removal is easy with a narrow tool. The fit is about as snug and secure as original spring bars. Order 2mm thick spring bars on AliExpress. I ordered mine from Strapcode, but the shipping is rather expensive.
dcrainmaker posted the response from Garmin -
"To improve durability, fēnix 7 and epix do not have removable pins."
Good info! I ordered the 2.3mm fenix 6 pins from Strapcode to maintain compatability with the QuickFit straps - we'll see how they do.
I am looking forward to your „pin removal report“ (and a hint, if you think, that a normal user could do it - you have watchmaker experiences for years).

I would re-phrase Garmin's response as -
"To increase the sales of our QuickFit bands and straps, fenix 7 and EPIX (Gen 2) do not have removable springbars."
But that's probably just my Thursday morning cynicism showing...
Easy to agree. However, the eBay ones does still work.
Maybe try more from eBay until they set the springbars free?
I measured my epix 2 and it measured 2.28-2.3mm, the Fenix 6 Pro measured around 2.28-2.29mm.
I took a bit of time to look for pins on Aliexpress, but about 95% of them are all the standard 1.5mm, with some listing 1.3mm and some 1.78mm. There are a couple of listings at 2.0mm and 2.5mm, but none I could find with a 2.3mm diameter.
Please let us know how the pins from Strapcode fit in terms of its end into the spring bar hole.

That is certainly my intention.
