I'm on 7.2 and after a period of not moving my wrist, the display turns completely off (this is after the expected dimming) even though I have Always On selected. I hope this is a bug and not one of the ways it gets the 6 days of battery life.

Updated October 18th, 2022:
If your display was turning off despite your settings, the v9.37 software update has fixed the issue.
This picture will help and the Support Center article…
Thanks, Chris. Yes, that does help but given those specifications there isn’t really an option for a display that is always on so “Always on Display” is misleading (and now it makes sense how Epix is able…
I hope the 7 works out better for you. I’ll never be able to go back to that muted screen after having the Epix for a week.
To reiterate my experience, AOD on, gestures off, and I literally never…
One other thing I've noticed about this is that when it's dark the sensitivity to no motion seems much greater (much more likely for the screen to turn completely off after dimming)
So, we can now at least state that Garmin's doing this not for the sake of battery life but to not have to deal with burn in devices. Well, then there's still the problem with all the customers that were going to run it on the lowest brightness setting, and the ones that just would've wanted to take their chanses with the eventual burn in in order to have a true AOD.
And my conclusion from this is that you cannot use a third party watch face as just a watch face, since it isn't shown in dimmed state because Garmin decided to show their own power saver watch face instead.
So we who not only liked this one as a sports watch but also as a smartwatch that could be used as a watch for all occasions, we're now down to using stock faces in order to have the watch face of choice to be the one actually presented... And we also have to keep moving that arm relentlessly.
Does Garmin honestly not see the idiocy in this?
Incorrect 3rd party watch faces can work the same as the stock ones. I have a couple that have already been updated.
So it's up to the developer. I guess that's somewhat better. Even though I'm not sure I want to rely on them keeping it maintained just so that you can actually have that face presented in dimmed mode.
How else could it work? You expecting Garmin to update 3rd party apps? This is no different that any other OS??
I'll buy your epix2 for 50€.
Happy me, happy you
Well, they could just give us the option to turn off that 60 seconds timeout.
Fortunately I don't own an Epix. And unfortunately I will not ever own one.
Unless Garmin give us the option to set the timeout to at least 15 minutes or to turn it entirely off, that is.
I keep reading different users experiences and I am totally confused.
So, can someone please confirm that screen will always turn off (completely off-nothing on the display) if no movement for some time? Is this the case for both, built in and third party watchfaces?
