At default watch settings, the battery drains 5%~6% per day.

To meet the product specification of 36 days, less than 3% of the battery must be consumed,

and 6% is almost double the consumption.

** When GPS is not used and the watch is left unused / sw version 11.89 **

I have the default settings and do not use app and messenger notification functions and only receive calls on vibrate.

I get phone calls at most 3 times a day. It's almost like nothing.

However, the battery drains 5-6% every day. Are other people okay?

  • I wear my E3 now for 7 weeks with countless trailruns and a few parkruns and about 10-12 indoor rowing activities (where it connects automagically to the Concept2 ERG rowing machine for the extra stats). The watch uses around 2% per day and less with sunlight exposure despite the activities. GPS is always on auto, gestures off and stock watchface.

For me the watch performs flawlessly and as stated before, I consider the topic of this thread a myth. The fact that Garmin has probably shipped 1000s of them all over the world and that only a handful people complain about the alleged "battery drain" seems to confirm my opinion as well.

  • Have a look also at the fenix 8 forum for similar threads as well as the beta forums . There seems to be a lot of people complaining about the “battery drain” but you choose to disregard them.

  • Periodic update from my side about that topic. I believe that some people indeed have an issue with battery drain for some reason. However for me my Enduro still performs really well. I charged battery last time on October 14th, so right now my watch is running for 36 days and battery still shows 39% or 15 days. For now I am using my watch mainly in a smartwatch mode with minor activities.

  • Really no offense here, but please give us a break and evaluate your definition of "a lot of people" in relation to the amount of shipped E3 & Fenix 8 watches in the world!

In view of that, yes, I choose to assume an operator/user problem and to disregard. Obviously I could be wrong, but the (statistical )chances are slim ...

  • As I said previously, go through the forums and check how many threads and people complaining about it. On the other hand, as I also replied to you in the past, maybe we are just lazy people, having nothing to do with our time and coming here to create noise, just so that we pass our time. However, based on the number of people and threads here, chances (also statistically speaking) are also slim. No offense I hope.

  • Absolutely no offense taken... ;-)

But seriously now. The number of users complaining about an alleged "battery drain" is probably, conservatively estimated by the number of users on the Garmin forum, less than 0.2% (especially after Joe Rogan making inadvertent advertising for the Fenix 8, which probably pushed sales through the roof).

If you really convinced that your watch has a battery drain issue, why don't you do all the users a favour and send it immediately in to Garmin for a check and let us know what the findings are? Maybe, your watch actually does have an issue, hard to believe, but possible. Maybe however, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it, which is what I believe?

PS: And yes, we all have too much time about spending time to write these posts, about such a non-problem - myself included ... ;-)

  • No reason for online hate, Sir!

PS: In case I find a real issue, I'll instantly send my watch to Garmin and report - promised.

PPS: ... and yes, all users would benefit, if you uncover and solve the "issue".

  • My brand new E3, updated to 12.22 used 12% in one day with two hours of gps activity. It also wouldn’t charge any higher than 99%. The estimate went from 36 days down to 32 days. This really wasn’t even a full day as I didn’t start using it until 1pm.

  • I had a situation in September where the Enduro 3 was using about 4% an hour in auto-select GPS mode - actually was consistantly higher than an Epix 51mm for that event!

I have no idea why it was so high but it was really first usage and after that things got a bit more expected.

i think there is a battery issue for some people as its using the same code as the Fenix 8 which has 100s of drain reports.

No doubt we will see a changelist in a coming release referencing a drain fix! This ALWAYS happens - some people deny or blame users and then Garmin finds the problem.  This has probably happened at least 10 times here in these forums so you would think people would learn by now and be more self-aware that just because THEY do not see an issue, does not mean there is no issue….
