At default watch settings, the battery drains 5%~6% per day.

To meet the product specification of 36 days, less than 3% of the battery must be consumed,

and 6% is almost double the consumption.

** When GPS is not used and the watch is left unused / sw version 11.89 **

I have the default settings and do not use app and messenger notification functions and only receive calls on vibrate.

I get phone calls at most 3 times a day. It's almost like nothing.

However, the battery drains 5-6% every day. Are other people okay?

  • I had bought E3 on release and my observations were similar - no chance to achieve advertised 36 days, closer to ~20 days. I simply returned the watch.

Currently I have Fenix 8 AMOLED 47mm and observe similar battery drain with same usage as Enduro 3 - 6-7% per day which corresponds to 14-16 (advertised) days.

  • Same issue here. I see about 4-5%/day with even with some solar charge (looking at only days without tracked activities) and close to default settings. Very far from the advertised values. Especially considering that this watch is meant to be a battery king, it's weird to see that even other Garmin watches outperform it. My almost 7 years old Forerunner 935 was still able to last 21-23 days in smart watch mode until now, which is what I currently get out of the Enduro 3.

There is a baseline drain which was not mentioned in any review so far (DC Rainmaker, Desfit, Chase the Summit, The Run Testers). Everybody repeated Garmin's numbers and say "it's roughly that much" even though here on the forums I've yet to see a single owner getting sub 2.78%/day drain, so I think this is not an issue with our units specifically.

Now that the most serious bugs like crashes and missing turn by turn navigation are fixed, let's hope the developers have some time to dig into optimizations! I contributed 2 weeks of usage data already between September 23rd and October 7th, but I haven't heard back yet from them.

Call me masochistic, but I do enjoy this initial phase of Garmin releases. Most people say it's like being an unpaid beta tester, but it also nice to see how the watch gets better over time and we have a history of this happening to previous releases. Hopefully it will be the case for this issue as well!

  • I get the same. 5%

no way it gets to 30 plus days

  • My enduro 3 after 2 weeks - 3.5%/day. I haven't charged it fully yet. Remember that the battery reaches full efficiency after several charging cycles.

  • On your default watch face do you notice any of the metrics updating every second?  If so, this is likely the cause of drain.

11.89 caused many metrics to update every second instead of every minute.

  • Can you share details regarding the below settings ?

Mine drops consistently 5% per day

I have the Falcon X watch face, but I am pretty sure the stock face would not have any impact

I have backlight at the lowest value

    Backlight timeout at 4 seconds

    Touch On

    Smart notifications Off

    Wifi off

    Bluetooth connection on

Sleep mode 22:30 - 07:00 which enables the sleep watchface which is very basic

  • I charged my Enduro 3 first time after 3 weeks. When I took it off from the box battery was at 70% level. After 3 full weeks it was 15% and still estimated few days like 6 or so to run.

    I have:
    - all the gestures disabled
    - touch enabled only on the maps
    - WiFi disabled
    - BT enabled to get phone notifications
    - backlight enabled only on touch after sunset

So far the watch received few software updates and now it is on 11.89.

During that period I did only few short activities with the GPS enabled (default option for satellites selection)
I am using stock watch face, I replaced only solar intensity for a heart rate and instead of ENDURO I have information about sunrise/sunset. Every day I switched to a sleep mode roughly between 9PM - 7AM.

After charging the watch on Monday morning two days ago, today morning it showed 94% of battery, but right now it is showing 99%. I am not sure if this is because I spent some time outdoor and there is a full sun condition or the watch just re-calculated somehow battery percentage.

  • I will change also

backlight enabled only on touch after sunset

I will leave touch on always as I find it very useful for me

However I find it crazy that the battery jumped to 99 from 94. What is the solar intensity widget showing you for LUX?

  • My enduro 3 after 2 weeks - 3.5%/day. I haven't charged it fully yet. Remember that the battery reaches full efficiency after several charging cycles.

How much solar did you have over this time (you can see the 7 day average on the second screen of the solar stats)? It should be ~1.1%/day with 150 lux hrs of solar per day, and 2.78%/day without any solar.

I have it since September 11th, and on a week long hike with 8+ hours of tracking per day, so I'm well into my 3rd battery charging cycle. It might have improved slightly but it's still above 4%/day in smartwatch mode with some solar charging included. It won't suddenly get 50% better from the battery getting slightly more capacity from a few more cycle. There is something more here.

On your default watch face do you notice any of the metrics updating every second?  If so, this is likely the cause of drain.

Garmin has seconds on a lot of their MIP watch faces, they are very efficient and updating a few more pixels makes very little difference. Besides the battery life was similarly bad on firmware where the metrics like solar updated only every minute. It seems really unlikely that this is relevant. Once again, my 7 year old Forerunner 935 can last this long with the default watch face updating every second.

  • For me it is also strange that it jumped to 99% as I spent outdoor just a few moments and widget is showing 8.7klx/h. I am not sure if battery jump was because of the solar activity or just the percentage was re-calculated based on some logic that considers many factors. For now 99% lasts for 3 hours already. In general it was like I charged the watch on Monday ~9AM. On Tuesday at the same time it was like 96%. Today morning it was 94% and now it is 99%.
