At default watch settings, the battery drains 5%~6% per day.

To meet the product specification of 36 days, less than 3% of the battery must be consumed,

and 6% is almost double the consumption.

** When GPS is not used and the watch is left unused / sw version 11.89 **

I have the default settings and do not use app and messenger notification functions and only receive calls on vibrate.

I get phone calls at most 3 times a day. It's almost like nothing.

However, the battery drains 5-6% every day. Are other people okay?

  • I switched to a side loaded version of this watch face two days ago and I am still seeing improved battery life, despite being a ConnectIQ watch face. I was at 76% two days ago, today it's 69%. So 7% over 2.3 days equals about 3% with ~30 minutes of GPS time and 45k lux hrs/day (these might cancel each other out). Which is much better than what I've seen before.

Caveat: over these short periods comparing percentages is somewhat inaccurate. Was I close to ticking over to 75% initially, or did it just switch to 76%? Same about the current 69%. So there is non-insignificant margin of measurement error, but the trend seems to be there still.

It might still just boils down to every second updates of the watch face and other metrics that change often, however Garmin usually counts with those, as my Forerunner 935 was advertised "Smartwatch Mode: Up to 2 weeks" and it can last for 21 days still with a watch face using seconds, 6.5 years later.

As a general note to people reading this thread and thinking why some of us are so focused on battery drain: First, I'm a nerd and I like to experiment with stuff and see how well it performs. If this doesn't entertain you as much, don't pay attention to these threads.

Second, historically Garmin was always very conservative with their claims, so if the watches under-perform, there is some issue in the background that is better to be solved. Especially that it seems AMOLED watches without AOD are sometimes outperforming solar ones. Also they seem to take this issue seriously and looking into it, so trying to figure out what exactly is wrong might help the developers.

  • Thanks, in my short usage of this watch face I am not seeing an improvement in battery life. I am trying this on the 7x pro though

  • Yesterday evening I charged Enduro 3 fully for the first time. It lasted 20 days, the battery dropped from 75% to 10%. Average amount of lux - 35k. Every day short activities with GPS. After charging, after a night the battery - 97%, drain at a level of over 0.4%/h overnight. Previously the average level counting the whole day and activities - 0.3% - 0.35%/h. Additionally, I noticed that the amount of lux on the dial stopped updating every second.

  • So basically you are saying that previously the watch drained 0.35% per hour, which means 8.4% per day?! This also means then that your watch will go from 100% to 0% in less than 12 days!

Which now begs the question how your watch "survived" the first 20 days with 65% battery capacity (75% to 10%) - as you said in your first sentence ...?

No offence, but who should buy all these claims, when you contradict yourself within three sentences?

As I said previously: IMHO all the claims of battery drain in this thread a simply a myth and do not reflect reality. The watch works as advertised with the original watch face and default settings.

  • So we are all here having nothing better to do with our time but complain for imaginary stuff, right?

Or this is again your weird sense of humour?

  • I believe some people really have some issue with the watch, but maybe it is related to some settings.

What Marcin wrote really contradicts with his claims because if before first charging battery draining was like 0.35%/h then for the 24h it is 8.4%. It gives almost 12 days from 100% to 0%, so how it is possible that the watch was running for 20 days and used 65% during that period (from 75% to 10%)? Maybe he did just typo and that is a result of misunderstanding, who knows.

Update from my side regarding battery status is today I have 86% of the battery (without many activities) and the watch was charged to 100% 10 days ago, so really good.

  • In an effort to gather information in a more structured way and maybe help identify the setting(s) that may contribute to the issue I have created the below google sheet with a list of settings along with the used watch face and battery consumption

please feel free to add yours

  • Just as a point of reference mine been stellar on battery, around 2% loss daily with bt on and after sunset gesture backlight enabled.
