BPM setting has been removed from HR

The ability to set heart rate zones by BPM has been removed without warning? The % settings are not accurate enough due to rounding of percentages. We can only set percetnages on the watch/app by whole percentages which doesn't work when zones change on a 1bpm level.

When will the BPM setting be restored? Why wasn't the change notified in any of the update release notes, so users had a choice?

Very expensive watch now can't set HR zones accurately.

Hmmmm you have right and i noticed that now. Even if LTHR is the best for me why Garmin remove the bpm option? Thats weird..

In heart rate training, the zones are a percentage of MHR, LT, or HRR. Why on earth would you want to refer to them in BPM?

What are you going to do when you age and/or your MHR/LT changes?

Redo all your BPM zones each time?

That's the reason they are percentages.

The watch only allows you to set whole percentages. eg MHR is 179 and we are looking at Top of Z2 (69%) Bottom of Z3 (70%). Example below.

Existing BPM figures

Top Z2 - 124 bpm

Bottom of Zone 3 - !25 bpm

Using percentages

Top Z2 - 179/100 x 69% = 123.51 bpm

There is no way of making 124 bpm or 125 bpm with whole percentages. This could have been easily avoided by including 1 or 2 decimal places in the percentage figure. Lots of people build and send training plans to our watches from training peaks etc. This breaks it.

I set my MHR by fitness test (not by 220- age which can only be a guess at MHR)

Logged a support email with Garmin. Still no response.

The simplest reason is that you have the zones calculated by another system such as TrainingPeaks and you want them to match in Garmin. You used to just be able to type the numbers in but now you have to know the basis of the calculation that TrainingPeaks used for generating your zones.

One or two bpm is neither here nor there since most of the time anyone is lucky to hold +/- 5 bpm

LOL... you think training peaks would do percentages like the whole rest of the world does.

So every time your MHR or LT changes, you have to redo all your zones again?

You actually train within 1 BPM?

I also found that heart rate zones via BPM is gone. I have contacted Garmin Netherlands about this. Unfortunately it won't come back. Although the online owner's manual says you can. I understand that the manual will be adjusted accordingly. Strange that this disappears without warning or asking what users think about it.

Main issues are.
Absolutely zero warning that the change was happening. Nothing in the release notes removed customer choice to update or not The lack of decimal places ie you can only select whole percentages means the conversion to bpm can only be flawed due to rounding. All can be worked around would have preferred the choice.
