Descent Mk2i Locked to Gauge Mode

Hi everyone,

just purchased a brand new Descent Mk2i for a diving holiday. I’ve arrived on holiday and done a bit of snorkelling on the first day while wearing the watch. I dove down about 2 meters for approx 10 seconds to point something out to my partner. The watch logged the dive as a gauge mode dive and has now locked me out for the next 24 hours. When I’m trying to enter single gas mode, I’m getting a message telling me that only gauge mode is available for the next 22 hours. I have 2 dives booked for the morning, anyone know how I can unlock the computer so that I can use it?

It seems insane that my computer is locked out just because I snorkelled down 2 meters. My old Suunto D6 never did this. Surely it should be capable of allowing snorkelling with the occasional dip under the surface with proper scuba dives too?

Any help so that I can use my computer in the morning would be much appreciated.

It is not locking out from diving, just locking out from choosing a mode that will track…

I had the same problem but tried resetting the tissue saturation, which solved the issue.

I found this option (reset tissues) under reset in the system settings and after restarting the watch I was able…

I think the watch goes to the last dive mode if you go deeper than 4 ft. Which means you used gauge mode last time. With gauge mode used the watch doesn’t really know about the inert gas in your system so it’s not gonna properly calculate the figures.

To prevent this happening in the future pick one of the other dive modes before you dive down

You can also disable lockout

Long press the menu button and go into dive setup, should be first option, scroll down near the bottom and disable, but not sure if youll have to wait now its locked out

You could try doing a factory reset. That will lose all your settings but might eliminate the lock out.

Or just dive in gauge mode. As long as you know the limits and follow the correct deco profile it's fine.

But then they'd be stuck in gauge mode for the rest of the dive holiday - i.e. the 24 hour countdown starts after every use.

This is supposed to be a "smart watch" and it is also multi-sport. It should be able to work out if it really is a dive or not. My 15 and 20 year old Citizen watches could tell the difference between a dive and a snorkel.

Exactly this. I’m quite disappointed that the computer can’t tell the difference between a nonsense dive and a real dive.

Factory reset made no difference. Just lost all my settings. Still locked out. Not very clever to dive in gauge mode with no NDL’s. I certainly wouldn’t risk it.

This doesn’t work. Only disables the deco lockout which is something totally different.
