Exporting Dives from Garmin to PADI - Best Options?

Hey all,

Im trying to figure out the best way to export my dive logs from my watch/dive app for import into PADI. I know manually is an option, but i have a ton of logs i want to get into PADI for verification so that i can at some point go for my DIve Master cert. There has to be a better way vs manually imputing.

"Restore from backup" date wrong

Hello,

for months now I am notice when restarting my watch that the "Restore from backup" date stays on August 19th.

Today I finally digged into this a bit more. I went into the settings and noticed that the last backup is from Monday (shown for the option "Backup now"), but not for the option "Restore from backup" right under it. It shows August 19th. Here's two photos. My watch is set to German.

Any idea? Known bug? User problem?

Heart rate measurement error after update 28.0

Since the 28.0 update, my wrist-based heart rate sensor hasn't been working properly. My heart rate spikes to abnormally high values for no reason, and I no longer trust the data.

I’ve tried everything: resetting the device, adjusting the strap position, etc. Has anyone else experienced this same issue?

T1 Transmitter Replacement Parts?

Hey all,

Recently purchased a brand new T1 transmitter and Mk2i package off ebay. Never used. I get it, replace batteries in the transmitter and dive. Well turns out the batteries I purchased we faulty (probably sitting on the shelf for the last decade) and it has corroded the inside of my battery housing. After contacting garmin they are will to give me a 30% discount on a T2 but thats more than i can afford.

My question is does anyone have any broken t1s laying around for parts (I need the battery housing portion) or advice on taking apart the battery housing to replace the contacts?

Feature Request – Ability to Disable Deep Stops on Garmin Descent MK2

Hello,

I would like to submit a feature request regarding the Garmin Descent MK2 dive computer.

Currently, deep stops are automatically applied during dives and cannot be disabled by the user. However, based on current diving practices and recommendations from several training agencies, the systematic use of deep stops is not always desired and, in some cases, is no longer recommended for certain dive profiles.

👉 Requested improvement:
Please add an option allowing users to enable or disable deep stops directly in the dive settings (similar to gradient factors, conservatism, or safety stop settings).

Benefits of this feature:

Allows the Descent MK2 to adapt to different decompression philosophies
Provides greater control for experienced and technical divers
Aligns the MK2 with features offered by other high-end dive computers
Enhances flexibility and advanced usability of the Descent MK2

This option could remain disabled by default, with an appropriate warning message, to ensure safe use for recreational divers.

Dive Start/Stop GPS

When I check the maps of my logged dives on my Descent MK2i, I only see the stop icon showing where the dive ended.

I thought the entry (start) point should also be visible.

Is there something I need to enable or set up for that?

I am unable to change my total dives on the Garmin dive app from zero even though I have yet to start using my mk3 watch. I have tried changing the number in the user settings, but it will not save… any suggestions?

SAC rate watch dive log vs app

Does anyone know why the dive log on the watch shows a different SAC and RMV vs the app? It's showing 11.9 on the watch log. The same dive in the app shows 15.7 on the app.

Mk2i Case Protector / Cover

I see lots for the G2, Fenix and other Garmins but none for the Mk2i.

At the end of a dive, my MK2i went blank as if it had lost power. Despite recharging, it has not begun functioning. Power on/of does nothing.

Climb Pro mismatch with Garmin Connect

Hi all. I have been using my Garmin Descent as my bike computer recently and just noticed something a bit strange on a route yesterday. I used Garmin Connect to create a route which showed 5 climbs. I transferred it to the watch as normal and then saw in Climb Pro only three climbs. Climb Pro is set to show all climbs and the missing climb fits the criteria for a climb as shown on the garmin website:

Climb distance (in meters) multiplied by the percent of the average gradient should be greater than 3,500.
A climb must be a minimum of 500 meters in length.
Average gradient must be a minimum of 3%.

Interestingly another climb on the route that shows on garmin connect which doesn't fit the criteria doesn't show on climb pro.

Anyone got any ideas?

Battery drain issue sorts itself out

Ever since the v26.30 update, my Descent Mk2i battery had started to drain at the rate of about 45% per day, giving me 2 days of battery time, against at least 10 days previously. I tried every trick in the forums to come out of this including

a simple power off / on
warm restart (holding down the LIGHT button for >30s)
Delete Data and Reset Settings from the MENU.
Unprompted Reset procedure
Delete all files using a computer connection and then Reset.
Disabling incident detection
Changing watch face to minimal data

Nothing helped. I had given up hope. I didn’t bother with Garmin Support because there were enough reports in the forum where users had been told, against all logic, that this wasn’t a software issue and to recheck settings or that the battery was indeed dead. In any case, Garmin India is a bit retarded and don’t service the Mk2i, erroneously believing that the “i” stands for inReach capabilities and is disallowed in India. With a heavy heart, considering the recent spate of reliability issues and poor local support, I set my mind on moving over to the Suunto ecosystem.

One day, just about the time I started to research the Suunto models, I forgot to charge my Garmin and it went dead early that night. I only noticed in the morning and connected it to a charger. When it came on, I found that it was completely reset - maybe due to the extended off time - and I had to set it up all over again. But what came as a pleasant surprise was that the battery was now back to normal - draining about 10% a day and giving me about 10 days on one charge.

So if you are also facing a battery drain issue, and none of the Reset procedures help, maybe the solution is to let the watch go dead without switching to Low battery mode. Allow it to stay dead for at least 12~24hrs before you connect it to a charger and allow it to charge up to 100%, and hope for the best.

Since then, I have set "Auto Update" of "Software Update" to OFF. I'd prefer to wait and watch for feedback on the forum before applying an update. This also allows me to supervise the update process closely whenever it is being applied.

Feature Request: Mk2 Series - Pool Apnea Activity

I have Mk2S and I recently started with freediving, and it is a real bummer to have "diving watch" without horizontal diving option. I tried https://www.apnea.me/applications/, however, it doesn't count the distance properly.

MK2S freediving in pool

Hello everyone!

There were discussion on the matter a long time ago but the problem stil exists.

There is actually a BUG in a matter of how the device follows a freediving activity: It starts apnea dive only at 1.3 meter depth and it stops apnea dive at 1 meter depth - and this is totally wrong!

It seems like nobody knows that freedivers who don't live by the ocean spend 99% of their dives at pool. A usual pool with depth starting 1.3 meters and very rarely ending 5 meters. So, according to this fact, most of the apnea trainings are failed to be activated by device and failed to be analised later by a freediver.

Why am I saying that it is actually a BUG with dive start/stop triggers? Yes, it's written in manual and because of this it's frustrating the most of all! How many people are there in the whole world who can possibly finish their dive (a freedive) while simultaneously have their watches at 1 meter depth??? This is against human anatomy (most of the humans)!! A BIG secret to tell: human cannot finish dive while staying at 1 meter depth, If you are at 1 meter depth you still cannot breathe - your dive is NOT finished.

Why am I speaking about dive finishing trigger first of all? Assume that freediver is lucky enough to train in a pool with depth 1.5-3 meters and he can dive to the depth of 1.3 m from start. Device starts to count his dive: "All right buddy you're at the depth, I'm watching you." Freediver is coming to the lap end and turns around continuing his dive. At this moment in 90% of times freediver is floating up because of the speed loss to the less than 1 meter depth. And device: "Congratulations buddy, you're at the 1 meter depth, your dive is finished, you can breathe normally!". Freediver is continuing his dive after turn, going back to 1.3 m depth because - "guess what?!" his dive is not even close to ending. What we have at the end? 2-5 dives on the device instead of actual 1 dive - totally spoiled and impossible to to be analised properly! Why is Garmin doing this to us, freedivers? Why does Garmin hates us so much??

Of course, the most logical problem solving decision would be allowing manual setting up of dive start/stop depth for Apnea dive modes. Let's assume, that for some unknown reason (Garmin hates freedivers?) it's not acceptable. Than the solution could be in changing this parameters for Apnea modes let's say to 0.7 m depth - start, and 0.3 m depth - finish.

And yes, I know about existence of "Apnea DYN" app, but it's terrible, terrifying, ugly, uncustomizeble, statistics free and not supported anymore! I would like to use my beautiful and almost perfect device with standart apps and options!

Really hope to see a solution for this issue. Be sure, I'm not speaking for myself only, most of freedivers would agree that problem exists and it doesn't allow people to use their devices for training.

Is MK2 getting any update? Seem Mk3 is getting something updated ATM.

[Feature Request] Add a confirmation on the Power off control

I use timer control frequently. It is usually the control when I press ok after long press the light button.Hence I usual press the ok button without even look at it.

However, my Descent switches to "Power Off" as the first function on Control by itself from time to time.

A confirmation before shutting down is pretty much the universe UI design to prevent accidental activation.

Could we have a confirmation before "Power Off"

LIGHT button does not switch off / on the watch. Any possible connection to my battery drain issues due to Emergency assistance feature?

The LIGHT button on my Mk2i does not work for switching on / off the watch. When I click on the button, I get the backlight. When I hold it, I get the widgets. But when I long hold, the emergency assistance gets activated. If I cancel the emergency asistance, it goes back to the watch face.

So I am not able to do the long hold (>30s) to switch off for a soft reset. However, I can select "Power OFF" from the widget and switch off. But once the watch is off, the LIGHT button doesn't work to switch it back on. The only way to switch it on is to connect to a charger or a PC on the USB cable.

I have no clue why this is happening. Obviously the hardware is fine because all the other functions work with that button. I even went to the extent of doing a "Delete Data and Reset Settings" from the SYSTEM menu, but the behaviour is the same.

I suspect the emergecy assistance feature is somehow interfering with the OFF function. I wouldn't normally care, because I am able to do it in other ways. But I suspect that this same emergency assistance feature is interfering with my watch battery life that is now running at 2 days (as against 2 weeks before ver 26.30). I saw a recent bug report in the fenix forums, that was fixed with a beta release, where the emergency assistance was getting stuck and draining the battery there.

I wanted to do an unprompted master reset (I'm assuming that is a deeper reset than the "Delete Data and Reset Settings"), but that doesn't work because the LIGHT button does not switch the watch back on along with the START and BACK buttons.

I wish I had some way to restore ver 26.10 or reinstall ver 26.30. I'm pretty sure that would solve many of these issues for the time being.

Descent Mk2i stuck in Descent screen

Since I had been having rapid battery draining issues (2% per hour) since the last 2 weeks, I had done a complete watch reset a few days back. The battery drain issue wasn't sorted, but at least I had the watch running fine. Today, I thought of trying to restart the watch and see if that helped sort the battery drain. Alas, after switching off, it wouldn't come on irrespective of any button that I pressed. I then connected the watch to the charger, and voila, the screen came on, but is stuck in the "DESCENT" boot up screen. Now, I can't switch off, I can't restart, nothing. However long I press the LIGHT button, the watch does not go off. Holding START/STOP and BACK for any amount of time does nothing. Holding both down along with LIGHT does nothing. Now I have no clue how to get this up and running again.

Descent Mk2i cannot pair with Connect for iOS

The GPS of my Descent does not work.

First I reset it to default and went pairing. Connect did find the Descent Mk2i and offered pairing. But it never succeeded. I relaunched the app and reboot the phone. No luck.

Then I skipped pairing on Descent and set it up on its own. I reset it again this time both default and clear data. It was still not working.

Any solution? Many thanks.

26.30 - Experiencing some issues

After updating to 26.30 on my MK2i I've been experiencing some issues.

1) Dive log - The latest dive seems to lose "dive time" and "max depth" on the overview. The data is still available when I load the dive details, but not visible otherwise.
2) Battery life - The device was fully charged 2 days ago (reported 16d and 100%) and now reports 12%. No settings were changed other than conservatism from medium to low. I have turned it off and on again to see if it will resolve the issue, time will tell.

Has anyone experienced similar behaviour?
