Instinct or Fenix 5?

The BX has the Fenix 5 on sale this week for $339. Then I’ve got a gift card for another $20. So I could get it pretty cheap. But, is the instinct better? Any word on a Vivoactove 4? I’m currently using the VA3. Running, hiking and cycling are all I record. The 5S is also on sale, is it better than the regular 5? Sorry if this seems jumbled.
  • I might have found my answer. Looks like the Instinct does not connect to speed/cadence sensors. That’s sometching I want for road biking.

Just to clarify, the Instinct is able to connect to speed/cadence sensors.

does it? I was reading a page that compared the Instinct, Fenix 5 and a Fenix 3. Said the Instinct was the only one that didn’t connect. Seemed like a strange thing to leave out.

Yes, it does, on both ANT and Bluetooth. I've got some wahoo sensors and it connects to both.

As to answer your original question, I don't think it's a fair comparison, I've got the Instinct, my wife has the Fenix 5 s (small one).
Her F5 has VO2max and all the normal training features and statuses, Instinct doesn't have the least one :). I can push workouts from the calendar .. and that's kind of it. No VO2max, no training load, no lactate threshold, no training plan.

Yes, it's nice in its simplicity, but for sport they're not in the same league. For other things maybe.

Hi guys, the Instinct can connect to ant+ sensors, speed, speed/cadence, cadence, hear rate. But it wont connect to power meter (that migth be a bummer if you are a cyclist and happen to have one)

As for the push workouts it does work, I've tried it with Garmin Connect and works.

    Cheers.

´The instinct does connect to Speed and Cadence sensors, it does not connect to Power sensors. I personally am using it with a speed sensor.
