The Tide Widget Petition

Tides are available on old Casio Protrek/pathfinder/g-shocks for decades, why not on the high tech Instinct ?

If you think a true Outdoors Smartwatch deserves a way to follow tides.
If you surf with your Instinct
If you fish with your Instinct
If you use the Boat activity and knows where the MOB is hidden

Answer that thread to show to Garmin: we would love a tide widget and we say "please" ! :-)

  • Do the right thing and add tides to the instinct.

  • Do the right thing and add tides to this watch. Please don't make this the last garmin item I ever buy.

  • No. It won't kill them to add a high and low tide time to the watch. Beyond laziness and greed there is no reason stopping them. Quit pushing water for the crap. I bought mine in Colorado, now I am on the cost. If I could I would return it and feel no guilt over it.

  • Yes, please add tide information.

  • The Tide widget exists and is for two years on the Surf Edition. So please let that thread RIP.

  • No. Stop simping for trimble. I'm not spending $450 just so my watch will tell me when it's high tide. People, stop spending money on trimble if they are going to do this. I will sell my instinct and get an open source alternative but not before I do my part to hurt trimble sales.

So... who or what is this "trimble" you (and, apparently only you) speak of - and why do you hate them so much? Thinking

Garmin have already clearly stated that they are not going to provide Tide info on any other Instinct models than the Surf.  If you must have an Instinct with surf data, then buy the Surf model.

  • Yes garmin, my mistake, I use trimble a lot for work.

I have spend at least a $1000 on garmin products and now they are refusing to provide a basic feature to a survival watch that even an apple watch has just so they can sell more overpriced surf watches. It's something I thought garmin would be above and now see that it's not and I believe enough so that this should hurt their sales that I am willing to do my part to make that happen.

  • To better explain I bought my instinct a year ago when I lived in the mountains, worked great. now I have moved to the coast and I'm told that the only way my watch, which could easily be programed to tell tides, will not because Garmin wants me to buy a far more expensive version. I will abandon my favorite brand (Garmin) before I support such underhanded business practices.
