The Tide Widget Petition

Tides are available on old Casio Protrek/pathfinder/g-shocks for decades, why not on the high tech Instinct ?

If you think a true Outdoors Smartwatch deserves a way to follow tides.
If you surf with your Instinct
If you fish with your Instinct
If you use the Boat activity and knows where the MOB is hidden

Answer that thread to show to Garmin: we would love a tide widget and we say "please" ! :-)

So we have to buy a whole new watch for the tide widget ? That's insane.

so i have to buy a new watch, almost double the prise to get the tides widget?? I'm a lifeguard and a frequent catamaran sailor and that widget would be very useful on my instinct but no way i would buy a new watch just for that.

  • Do you also understand that this “whole new watch” also comes with Solar functionality, upgraded GPS chipset, along with updated HR w/ PulseOX functionality?

    Thats what you’re paying for.

I don't think that's worth it, just because it has a couple extra features. I bet the Pulse oximeter isn't even that accurate, even my old galaxy had that function. The solar panels are nice but aren't that special. The point i wanted to make was that it's sad they don't just add the tide function to the existing instinct, it's just software... That's the whole point of this tread. If you want the extra sensors i understand you have to pay more, but come on just update the software with the tide widget for the existing Instinct...

  • I believe that this forum is quite useful to discuss what features/problems Garmin should address. Additionally, it seems that a lot of people would like to have a tide widget but just complaining on this thread won't change anything. Start directly emailing Garmin or fill the form to suggest new ideas (https://www.garmin.com/en-US/forms/ideas/). If everybody that is (rightfully) complaining here follows that path maybe we get an update.

I already did both, so did 2 of my colleagues that also use the Instinct, one of them bought the surf edition and even he thinks it’s overpriced...

  • Great. I also did the same.

  • I'm a lifeguard and a frequent catamaran sailor and that widget would be very useful on my instinct

For what you do, there's no question the tide widget would be very useful to you. The question is, knowing what you do, why would you choose to purchase a watch that doesn't have this feature and then expect Garmin to cater to your needs?
