The Tide Widget Petition

Tides are available on old Casio Protrek/pathfinder/g-shocks for decades, why not on the high tech Instinct ?

If you think a true Outdoors Smartwatch deserves a way to follow tides.
If you surf with your Instinct
If you fish with your Instinct
If you use the Boat activity and knows where the MOB is hidden

Answer that thread to show to Garmin: we would love a tide widget and we say "please" ! :-)

I agree. all a tide chart is is a table of data that can get sync'd every time you sync to the connect app. All we really need is to know when the low and high tides are and what the height is. But, my guess is that garmin wants to sell the new watches. I keep seeing one guy keep posting back (sell your watch and buy the new watch). Which really is a silly waste. Especially for something as simple as a tide table and for the price of these watches.

And they indeed did it already, but they sell it only in special editions - Instinct Tide (for the old model) and Instinct Solar Surf (for the new model). You are free to buy them if you really need the tides. You have no chance Garmin adds tides to the ordinary models, since they would have to refund all the owners of Instincts Tide and Surf, who paid extra money to get the feature.

Maybe a software update with a lite version of those on surf would be fine :) but again the chance is so small.

Hi, I really want to buy an instinct surf, but I don't like the surf colours.

Is it possible to add the tide widget on the instinct solar black or blue? I'm happy to pay full instinct surf price.

The Tide widget will only be in the Instinct Solar Surf edition of the watch. APPS cannot be added to an Instinct since they are not compatible with Connect IQ.

A Fenix 5 or Fenix 6 series watch can be bought instead and there are various tide widget APPS that can be added to the watch through their Connect IQ store compatibility.

It’s crazy how a simple app can only be supported on the surf edition watch. I’m sure it could be done but that would take away sales from the surf model. Is there some special hardware in the surf model that the others don’t have? Because frankly all I see is some new colors and the addition of solar. Really hope the instinct 2 will have all of those wonderful widgets it has now with the addition of a tide on that one ;). The instinct really is a 99% complete out doors man watch that kills the market for g shock wearers like my self. But without tides I do feel it’s not complete. Living in south Florida I need tides. I live on the water. But I don’t like the surf watch. I like my instinct. Farming if you’re actually listening. If you’re gonna build an outdoorsmen watch. Put the tides on it also please. Other than that this watch exceeds my needs.
