Battery draining 30% per day on Fenix 5

Just within the last week my battery has been draining extremely fast on my Fenix 5. It is dropping 30% per day, without any GPS use. What can I do to fix this problem? I have only had this watch for 5 months. The software version is 14.2

I have a Fenix 3hr, but had the same issue--6%/day drop with no GPS, then it started dropping 30-50%/day. I cleaned the back of the watch with alcohol and toothbrush, and now it is back to normal.

Tell us more... Do you have any widgets like eg. watch face, data field, etc. installed? Some third party widget may drain your battery fast. If you do, please disable them all, and monitor if battery deplete…

I started to experience this since last update two weeks ago or so. Is there a solution?

On fenix 5 plus, it was a Bluetooth issue draining the battery. Garmin eventually upgraded it but communication was poor around this, and I nearly got rid of the watch after 3 weeks of having to charge every second day.

Did you try soft reset? (holding light button until it switches off and + 20 seconds, then release and start again.) If this does not help we have to check further - what non garmin IQ apps you have, what type of watch faces etc. Generally connecting to PC and synchronization with Garmin Express also helps to get updated apps after upgrade of software.

A soft reset did the trick so far. I am now on 83% after 2 days, so I'm probably going to reach my previous mark of 5+ days.

I've started having this issue over the past 6 weeks. If I complete an activity the watch drains completely within a few hours. Software is version 21.0. About to re-set to factory defaults, but i haven't installed any widgets or other apps.... Anyone currently experiencing this issue?

Yes, since january 2th. Total drama, drainage uptill 40% a day. With and without my apps and widgets.

same here for me, software version 21.00 on my fenix 5.

Additionally when running outside (with GPS) in minus degrees the battery drains like crazy, after 10-20 mins the watch is alerting of low battery level <5%.

I’m having a similar issue. Noticed I was on 17% charge yesterday so did a brief charge which brought it to 44% before a 10k run. On return uploaded it to connect and under an hour later I was at 2%. Charged to 100% and within 3-4 hours I’d dropped to 50%. Did a reset and all seemed ok but it’s now dropped 25% in an hour or so. No changes to apps etc so wondering if I have a dying battery. The watch is 2 1/2 years old and is worn constantly.

Fortunately for me, Garmin decided to take my watch back even though the warranty had expired. If all goes well I get a refurbished fenix 5. For now top services from Garmin.

did a full reset and still intermittent. Got in one to two runs between charges and then got a full week and 4 runs but as soon as the battery hit ~45% the watch drained to 5% within an hour. Maybe time for a new battery...
