A couple of months ago, some people posted about the use of Stryd adversely affecting performance metrics such as VO2 Max. For example, people said they dropped from 56 VO2 Max to 48. I just got a Stryd and went for my first run this morning and saw my VO2 Max drop from 53 to 51. Is this a bug with Stryd? With GC? Or something else?
Sorry to resurrect this old post. But, this happened to me as well with the 645. I've been running with Stryd and 645 for the past several months. Decided to run with GPS instead recently due to my Stryd being dead. The GPS was really accurate on distance for a 4 mile path run I do, and the pacing was pretty great. But, what was interesting was my performance #'s just started sky rocketing. Started with +1, then +5 to vo2max. My final vo2max #'s are closer to what I've expected based on the estimated score from the Cooper 12 min track test. I'm not sure what to make of it, but I think there's something odd going on with FirstBeat and Stryd's bouncy pacing data. I find the GPS pace data to be more smooth and stable. I think from now on, I'll likely just run with GPS for most of my slow runs. I might switch back to Stryd for higher speed workouts.
