Turn-by-turn directions

Under what circumstances, if any, will the 5X give turn-by-turn directions? So far I've tried the following:

Round-trip course: The watch vibrates at an upcoming turn and shows the map. The watch does not give street names for the upcoming turn, even though that information is available when you're previewing a generated route on the watch.
A Garmin Connect Course: I created a course on GC (uploaded via Garmin Express). When following the course on the 5X, the watch provided no indication about upcoming turns. I had to set the watch to the map screen and keep looking at the map. To make matters more difficult, the screen kept resetting to the distance/pace screen. When looking at the course creator on GC, I don't see a way to manually add turn indicators.

What are the other options for getting turn-by-turn directions on the 5X?

If I have time tomorrow, I'll try to create a short 1 mile course on GC. I will then try running that course repeatedly on the 5X in the following modes:
- Activity: Pedestrian, Courses: Follow Course…

This video might help - even though it is in German. The idea is that when you import a GPX-route in Garmin Connect, GM sends it to your Fenix 5x as a FIT-file. Tried it today and it worked. Even with Running and not only for Cycling as the example on the video. www.youtube.com/watch

Last year, I used the Fenix 5X to navigate while cycling and it displayed turn-by-turn directions. I always planned courses using the Garmin Connect website, and unfortunately I am not getting any TBT instructions from this year. Of course, I have routing set to 'follow course' as always. The problem is that last year the watch showed the distance to turn and the direction and it isn't showing these informations at the current season. Does anyone know why?

Contact your garmin support so we get more impact on this issue. It is silly it does not get fixed.
