Fenix 5 Plus Series - 14.00 Release Candidate

Hello Fenix 5/5S/5X Plus users,

We have new beta software ready for your upcoming adventures!

This software version is our next Public Release Candidate. This means that this software will become a public update, as long as we do not identify any critical bugs in this version. We would appreciate any feedback on v14.00. (Whether you install 14.00 now or wait for the official release in a few days, the v14.00 "release candidate" or "public release update" software will be identical.)

Note: Please allow for the updates to propagate across all servers. There is no need to post that the link does not work. It will after a bit of patience.

14.00 Change Log Notes:

  • Fixed an issue where the device could crash when editing CIQ data field/watchface settings.
  • Fixed an issue where long music titles would not display correctly on the playlist screen.

Please note, the beta updates released on these forums are not suitable for APAC region devices.

Please send all bug reports to outdoor[email protected], and indicate which model of the fenix 5 Plus series you have in the subject line.

I'd like to know as well. I was waiting for an update via the phone, but none came. Is there a way do download it? (I don't have a system that can run Express)

  • You can follow the instructions at the top of this post or ... wait ;) I've just checked the update is not yet available thru Garmin Express. It generally takes several days until an update is made available worldwide

  • Hi.... Since introducing CIQ 3.2 to the Fenix 5x plus ... I'm running CIQ 3.2.3.....
We have no access to CIQ 3.2 features?....we are missing 3.2 features?...
That was the whole point of 3.2.....ive written off to product support.... Its not just the Fenix either....
Devs not happy in one of these pics.... and can't use Garmin weather on CIQ Prg's either!?
As I said I've written off to product support...
    All the best.
  • Yes indeed, I noticed the same problem with 2 watchface's that require CIQ 3.2. My Fenix 5X Plus is also running on CIQ 3.2.3, so my assumption was that the watchface's would work. Unfortunately not...

  • Thanks surfslee..... Would you consider reporting it to product support... The more people that do... the more it will be raised at Garmin....

Why they bothered giving us 3.2.. without any functionality I've no idea?

  • I just tried to send the problem to Garmin Support, but my email address is not accepted. Probably because I'm not the first owner of my 5X Plus.
Hopefully Garmin does read this topic...

  • Thanks for trying.... I find since the ransomwear attack I can't send Garmin product support or helpdesk any files.... They're all rejected since the attack.... I can send them pictures and text...

    All the best...

I'm rarely the first owner of my Garmin devices, and this was never a problem with contacting or getting support. Although getting support via email was slow or unsuccessful, so I usually called them. Which wasn't quick either (spent ages on hold sometimes) but mostly got a good solution eventually.

One thing to check maybe; did you send the email from the address that the device is registered to, and that the device is listed in this email account on my.garmin.com ?

After a careful re-read of Odsweng's post: "Whether you install 14.00 now or wait for the official release in a few days, the v14.00 "release candidate" or "public release update" software will be identical." I believe that the 14.00 Release Candidate is indeed identical to the later released version, so you won't get the final version as an update.

  • I too had the super sluggish map issue (https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/outdoor-recreation/f/fenix-5-plus-series/246206/extremely-sluggish-map-operations-with-europe-2020-20). In the end a lot of people (including myself) fixed things by multiple re-installs of the 2020.20 Topo maps. I know it sounds stupid, but in the end that helped.
