Distance detection not working

My approach Z30 was  working perfect  for  two rounds then  it  stopped detecting any  distance.   I can not  lock on to hazards or pins.   I tried changing the battery no  improvement.   Every one  in  a while it will  briefly  show  me  a distance bit it disappears immediately.

I have  searched  the  web.  No  one  else  seems to  be reporting this.   I am  returning the  unit, but am hesitant to  buy another.  I have a Garmin Epix 2 and love how  they  work together.

Has anyone  else seen this  issue?   I am  guessing I got unlucky, but do  not  want  to  spend  that  much money for a useless range finder.

Note I have  a  Garmin Approach R10, Garmin bike computer, Garmin. Bike radar and have  been  very  happy with  their performance.  So not a hater at  all.

    Thanks Cody for replying.  I am online now.  I received the Garmin Approach Z30. I was able to shoot pins from 300 yards and closer and shoot distances to hazards easily for two rounds.

    After that I have never been able to lock on a pin even from  shorter distances.  I can only intermittently get distances to trees and sand traps and the distance would show then go away. 

    I searched everywhere on the internet.  No other reports to try this have been reported.  This issue was bad enough to where people would have been very unhappy with.  The units was never dropped or had any nother mishandling.  I returned the unit for a refund.  I am a Garmin fan and would repurchase the unit but want some assurance that this is not normal performance.

    I would also like to know where the firmware update listings are.   I could not find them.  I synced the device to check for updates but it seems I was updated.

    Oh I also have Garmin Vector Pedals.

    Update as of September 18th, 2024:

    If you are experiencing concerns with the Approach Z30 providing distances, reference the Garmin Support site solutions linked below ensuring that use is following the recommendations for "Adjusting the eyepiece", "Measuring the distance to a target", "Measuring the distance to the pin", and "Ranging Display Overview". 

    If the concerns continue, please contact Garmin Support to discuss the concern with a Golf Specialist to gather a report with more info to asses and provide further solutions.

    In the Golf product forums, selecting the device from the group of Approach products will display the changelog for software update releases. 

    Since the time the Z30 has been announced...there has not been any additional updates to provide for the unit. As software is released going forward for the unit, it will be posted on the Z30 topic page.

    Thanks for the reply Cody.  I do not believe your guidance would have resolved the issues.  The lense was perfectly clean and I operated the unit as per isnstructions.   I also tested I it from near distances in ideal conditions.

     As  it worked great for two roundsmI suspect an component failure.   I will buy another Garmin Z30 as it seems to be a random experience. Literally no one else on the internet has mentioned anything like what I experienced.

    I didn't have the same problem as you but my screen kept randomly flicking on/off without me pressing any buttons. I've returned it but it won't stop me buying another one at some point as I think the 'extra' features that it provides in conjunction with the S70 are great. I too could not find any similar internet reports of the same issue that I was experiencing.

    Having the same problem as this user. I think it's due to connectivity. It won't show a range if it doesn't have a Bluetooth connection. 

    Recently Epix Gen 2 has an update. That caused the golf app to keep quiting. As that was happening the z30 wouldn't range at all. 

    I experienced it not ranging before, but it was intermittent. With the Epix bug, it consistently didn't range when it didn't have a Bluetooth connection.
