Distance detection not working

My approach Z30 was  working perfect  for  two rounds then  it  stopped detecting any  distance.   I can not  lock on to hazards or pins.   I tried changing the battery no  improvement.   Every one  in  a while it will  briefly  show  me  a distance bit it disappears immediately.

I have  searched  the  web.  No  one  else  seems to  be reporting this.   I am  returning the  unit, but am hesitant to  buy another.  I have a Garmin Epix 2 and love how  they  work together.

Has anyone  else seen this  issue?   I am  guessing I got unlucky, but do  not  want  to  spend  that  much money for a useless range finder.

Note I have  a  Garmin Approach R10, Garmin bike computer, Garmin. Bike radar and have  been  very  happy with  their performance.  So not a hater at  all.

  • I'm having exactly same problem. I've played 2,5 rounds and then distance detection stopped working. Disappointed

  • Any thoughts? I think no matter what the z30 code path should range and then update the display and range if a Bluetooth connection is achieved. The failure mode shouldn't be to be completely disabled.

  • Make sure the Garmin Golf app is up to date on version 2.19 (released 8/6/2024) and then test to see if the concern is still occurring in the Garmin Golf app.

If you are continuing to see the issue, please let me know and I will reach out to gather some additional information to submit a ticket through your Garmin Account for the issue.

  • Tried that this weekend. No luck. It ranges intermittently when only connected to the phone and doesn't range + reboots my epix pro gen 2 on 18.11.

  • I have sent you a direct message requesting some additional info on the concern. You should see my message in the upper right corner of the forums site within the message icon at your earliest convenience.

    - Thank you

  • Also tried this. However, with no luck :( It can connect to the Garmin Golf App via bluetooth but it cannot detect any distances

  • Can you reply to my direct message, as I need to go over some account related information and further info related to the issue that we cannot have listed in the public thread due to privacy and terms of use related reasons.

    - Thank you

  • I am having the same problem with you. Any help??

  • Pls help me too. My device is really difficult to shoot at flag and some object above 200 yards

  • I am also experiencing the same issue. I have disconnect and reconnect multiple times to ensure it can update any software needed. Also today on the course, I covered both lenses in the front while looking thru it was still showing the flag/what I was pointing at. But of course, no distances. So idk if that’s a lag? Because how would i still be able to see what i was pointing at if 1 hand is covering both lenses. A few times it would read the actual distance but not playslike.
