Software updates not working lots of bugs

Is anyone else having issues with the Garmin Approach S70 after the latest software updates?

A few things I’ve noticed:

• I can no longer view my historical shots on the course map in the Garmin Golf app. I believe this feature was added earlier this year, and it appears to have disappeared.

• I’ve been playing a lot of 9-hole rounds. When I finish a round and later go back out for another 9, the watch often doesn’t properly end the first round, which creates problems with tracking the second round.

• Sleep tracking has become inconsistent. Some nights my sleep data records normally, while other nights no sleep data appears at all.

Has anyone else experienced these issues, and if so, have you found any fixes? I’m currently running the latest software version on my S70.

You are not alone with at least some of these problems. Garmin users have recently reported sleep tracking failures and other bugs after updates, and Garmin has issued several software fixes for the S70 over the past few releases.

  • I have similar problems. When ending a round, sometimes the watch reboots. If I start an golfactivity then, is asks if I want to end the current activity, but it isn’t showing shot maps in the (iOS) app. reinstalling the app doesn’t fix it.

This makes this expensive watch (and the expensive ct10’s) worthless. Counting shots isn’t enough, the shot maps are very important. Also it is very annoying that the watch reboots at the end of the round. The last update doesn’t have benefits so can we just go back? Is there anything else I can do?

  • The sleep troubleshooting didn’t work. if I reset my watch, what happens do you have to reset up my Club tracking and everything else I have the CT 10

I would love to help with the sleep tracking. For this, I have some additional questions.

    • Do we have permission to access your Connect account to review this?
    • What are some specific dates that Sleep data was not recorded?
    • When did this start?

It is not possible to reset your club stats. However, you can delete a club from your club list and then add a new club of the same type. You will lose the historical data tied to the original club, but you will be able to start fresh with new club stats on the newly added club. See Add, Edit, or Remove Golf Clubs for Your Garmin Golf Product for more information.

  • I have the same issues with my S70 after the updates. The shot maps feature is literally why I bought the Garmin golf watch I the first place, and now that it’s not working, it is almost useless.  Is there a way to install a previous firmware version, so I can get the shot maps working again?  Or is there an ETA on a Garmin fix?

  • What I do now and what seems to be working

    • Reboot the watch just prior to the round
    • Play the round and end it
    • Start another round to make sure the previous one ended (which it has al the time, after the reboot)
    • Keep the app closed until now

It is strange, but for me it is working. I’ve got my shot maps back and no more reboots when saving the round. Of course still no activity in Garmin Connect, but I don’t think Garmin will solve that.

So, I can use it quite normal, but Garmin takes very long to fix it. I made a ticket, but that’s just another reply which states that this are known issues.

Can you give us an update with an expected timeline? And maybe update us regularly?

  • The latest software update ensures that, following a full reset, I can once again view the activity. I don't need to reboot the watch before starting a round. The scorecards were always visible. However, occasionally a round fails to close properly; in one instance, it even caused a spontaneous reboot resulting in the loss of the activity data. I think Garmin really needs to take a critical look at the software to develop a stable version.

  • I have reported a similar bug pattern where a restart (off/on) seems to "temporarily" fix the issue.
Will do a restart before any activity from now on.

  • Hello
    I have same issues:
    - When I finish a course and try to record it, the S70 reboot and le shots are lost
    - In the tracking activities, no golf but walk!
    - Sleep tracking sometimes does nto work
    - Recovery is ... funny. Blocked à 67hours but tells me that my recovery is complete Slight smile
I did a full reset of the watch but same after

    S70, sw 27.07
It's not the first time that I have weird behavior after a sw update
Hey Garmin, do you ever know what 'non-regression testing' means ?
