Software updates not working lots of bugs

Is anyone else having issues with the Garmin Approach S70 after the latest software updates?

A few things I’ve noticed:

• I can no longer view my historical shots on the course map in the Garmin Golf app. I believe this feature was added earlier this year, and it appears to have disappeared.

• I’ve been playing a lot of 9-hole rounds. When I finish a round and later go back out for another 9, the watch often doesn’t properly end the first round, which creates problems with tracking the second round.

• Sleep tracking has become inconsistent. Some nights my sleep data records normally, while other nights no sleep data appears at all.

Has anyone else experienced these issues, and if so, have you found any fixes? I’m currently running the latest software version on my S70.

You are not alone with at least some of these problems. Garmin users have recently reported sleep tracking failures and other bugs after updates, and Garmin has issued several software fixes for the S70 over the past few releases.

  • The latest update has created more problems for me.

I wasn't going to post it here (or in the Facebook S70 tips group, where a few people have also raised these issues) because, to be honest with you, I am a bit over it.

When these problems occurred after the last software update, I found a solution which is to restart the watch before every round. Unfortunately I still need to do this, because if I don't I have the same problem (golf not recorded as an activity) - but in addition it now doesn't record the shot map - All I get is the scorecard.....

I am not critical that the attempted fix has not worked - but it is so disappointing that their first attempt at fixing these issues took them more than 6 months. Will we have to wait another 6+ months before they try again.....

  • Could you specify Iphone or Android?

They have their own different sets of issues.

Shot maps, history (last year), and sleep data working fine on my iphone update.

  • Hello. Thank you for posting your concerns. For this, I would love to collect some additional specifics.

For the historical shot map concern, you would need to have played the golf course more than once. When the app is open, there will be an option in the bottom left (3 dots on Android) to then enable historical shots Understanding Golf Scorecards on Garmin Connect Web. If still not working

    • What model phone and OS version are you using?
    • What version is your Golf map on?
    • Are your previous score cards still showing in the app?

For the watch not ending the round:

    • Does this occur every time?
    • Are you able to end the round, to start the new round? If so, how?
    • What do you specifically do to transition from one round to the next?
    • What do you see on the watch when this occurs?
    • If possible, I would love to collect a video of this here: https://supportforms.garmin.com/en-US/form/file-uploader/

For sleeping tracking, I would recommend reviewing these recommendations: Troubleshooting Garmin Sleep Tracking

The above questions should be as a reply to Shebib, not me.

I do not have any of the above issues - I can see historical shots - i haven't played 9 holes lately so I cannot comment on that one.

Twice I have tried not restarting the watch and on both occasions I had no activity recorded and no shot map. I will just kept restarting (if I remember).....

I asked over 6 months ago, and never received a reply to.

Do Garmin have a beta program? If not, perhaps they should....

It would be great to be able to instal an earlier firmware - could this be added? I would rather go back numerous versions and have a working watch....

  • Historical shot working on my Android - Golf App 3.8.1
Visible on the PC Garmin Connect as well.

I've deleted the original post to reply to Shebib

  • For the historical shots, I deleted the app and reinstalled it that seemed to work.

For the nine holes next time, I play nine holes back to back two different days. I’ll try to take some type of video. But I noticed this morning after playing nine holes. It asked me if I was continuing or starting a new round. I ended the round and usually have never got this question.

the sleep tracker, which I was using constantly now is worse than I will review your link below

    1.  The sleep troubleshooting didn’t work. if I reset my watch, what happens do you have to reset up my Club tracking and everything else I have the CT 10
  • I'm having same issues with score tracking. Started after last sw update.

    - When playing just 9 holes and you save your rpund it doesnt sync to garmin golf app on phone. When i start round again on watch, it asks if i continue last round. When i finish round again, it gets synced to phone.im using android 16.

    - after i finish a round, watch sometimes restarts itself.

    - Yesterday i played 18 holes and same issues happened. I had one hole where i did not have score and marked it -. I dont know if this is part of the reason. Never happened before last sw update.

It worked for four rounds. But now, the problem from six months ago has recurred. Furthermore, the watch prompts me to resume the round, even though the previous round was properly finished and saved. Unfortunately, no activity is visible, and the shot data isn't showing up either. I think the only short-term solution is for Garmin to revert to the software version from before the November update.

    I use Android.

Golf app version 3.8.1. Garmin Connect version 5.26.1

    Score cards visible.

I try to restart watch and see if it's recording activity.
