CT10 Sensors / S62 unassigning 2 sensors after every round (Could be related to the new Golf club choices?)

Hi All - I have been using the CT10 sensors for the last 2 golf seasons and have had no problems with them. I set up a new set of clubs and while most of them are still 100% fine, I have found that starting the last 3 rounds brings up a notice that there is an "unassigned sensor". I am able to pair it again through the watch (prior to starting a round), works fine during the round, and then it happens again the next time.

The strange thing is, I only noticed this happening after the Garmin Golf update that added all of the additional clubs. For example, I had my 7w set up as a 5w prior (and never had an issue with it when set up this way). It's only unassigning some of the NEW clubs that were just added to the pick list, none of the standard ones that were there in the past.

I also added a Cleveland 42 chipping club last week, and noticed upon setting it up as one of the 9hybrid clubs (which I believe is also new), that it showed 2 unassigned clubs yesterday. I fully removed the clubs and sensors, rebuilt the clubs (and created the chipping club back down to a lob wedge), so we will see if it happens again.

The other issue that seems to stick out is that the newly updated clubs (7wood, for example) do not show up in the same order as they should in the watch. The 7wood is listed first, above the driver, which makes me think that I fixed the chipping club by making it a lob wedge, but the 7 wood seems still off.

Anyone else having this issue with some of the new clubs?

(Side note, the batteries are new, they connect perfectly fine once paired, and they work perfectly fine on the course).

  • For what its worth, the latest watch firmware (garmin epix) seems to have solved the problem of unassigned sensors for me.

Nevertheless I returned the garmin sensors in favor of the shotscope system. The garmin app is just absolutely awful and the “graphics” used for the courses are like childrens drawings. Having no attempt at a algorithm to remove extreme shots or even mark basic things like a drop ball or lost ball make the data very flawed.

It seems like the app has been abandoned for any meaningful defelopment. Ill just be using the watch for gps distances but no tracking.

  • Still not fixed for me. Before I start every round I need to reassign my 7 wood. What a pain.

  • Virtual caddie will continue to suggest the same club based on the historical data, even if you edit the club type. It would be best to change to a club length similar to the clubs having the issue becoming unassigned.

Once the fix becomes available, it would obviously be preferable to switch the club back to the appropriate type.

  • Just played a round on Tuesday, 7w unassigned as of right after the round was completed on my fully up to date software wise s62. Ive never seen shotscope, although it looks interesting. The watch is what has been keeping me in this ecosystem, but honestly I am starting to look into arccos / wear os combo. Wont be as seamless unfortunately as i want something that connects to the watch so I dont have to have my phone around. What's frustrating is that I brought this up 7 months ago with the exact troubleshooting steps i took, and clearly identified the issue, and it's still not fixed.

  • Well, it's now July with still no resolution. I have played a couple of rounds over the last month or two and every single time, round is completed, and "UNASSIGNED" sensor shows in my watch. Continue to check for both app and watch updates, everything is fully updated. I am starting to look at other options for my golf technology at this point. Does anyone know of any watch/sensor combos that work together?

  • We appreciate everyone's patience, and apologies on your concern with the timeframe of the update. We are still in the process of working towards a solution, as this is something Garmin is working to resolve.

This specific issue is something with an easy, and active workaround in nicknaming one of the originally offered club types, at little to no inconvenience to the user in the meantime...as you can edit the club type back once we have solution to the problem with them becoming unassigned.

We understand the timeline for a solution is longer than some users prefer, or may have anticipated...but this post and others on the forums related to this one will be updated to reflect the fix once available at that time.

  • Is there an update on this?  For several recent rounds, I am getting an Unassigned Sensor error, which effectively stops me from using my S62 on the course unless I remove the 7W and reassign it. There is no way too ignore or push past the error. Additionally, my S62 has frozen mid round twice in the past few weeks (including this past Sunday) after I have used my 7W in my round, meaning I have no GPS view.  I had to force the S62 to power down twice, truncating my round and creating a terrible distraction mid-round.  I have verified all my club sensors are paired with sting batteries.  This is very frustrating- please advise.  I love my Garmin universe (with the CT-10s, the S-62, and my R10), but this bug is making it unsustainable.
