CT10 Sensors / S62 unassigning 2 sensors after every round (Could be related to the new Golf club choices?)

Hi All - I have been using the CT10 sensors for the last 2 golf seasons and have had no problems with them. I set up a new set of clubs and while most of them are still 100% fine, I have found that starting the last 3 rounds brings up a notice that there is an "unassigned sensor". I am able to pair it again through the watch (prior to starting a round), works fine during the round, and then it happens again the next time.

The strange thing is, I only noticed this happening after the Garmin Golf update that added all of the additional clubs. For example, I had my 7w set up as a 5w prior (and never had an issue with it when set up this way). It's only unassigning some of the NEW clubs that were just added to the pick list, none of the standard ones that were there in the past.

I also added a Cleveland 42 chipping club last week, and noticed upon setting it up as one of the 9hybrid clubs (which I believe is also new), that it showed 2 unassigned clubs yesterday. I fully removed the clubs and sensors, rebuilt the clubs (and created the chipping club back down to a lob wedge), so we will see if it happens again.

The other issue that seems to stick out is that the newly updated clubs (7wood, for example) do not show up in the same order as they should in the watch. The 7wood is listed first, above the driver, which makes me think that I fixed the chipping club by making it a lob wedge, but the 7 wood seems still off.

Anyone else having this issue with some of the new clubs?

(Side note, the batteries are new, they connect perfectly fine once paired, and they work perfectly fine on the course).

  • I think there is a miscommunication here. I am just asking if this has been fixed and I am not getting a yes or no - it's too cold for me to play golf and test if the device unassigns after a round, so I am just asking if this latest round of updates, once set up properly and all sensors are PROPERLY assigned to new clubs, fixes the issue i started this thread on.

Has the issue where sensors become unassigned on the 'newly' added clubs after a round is completed been fixed with this update?

    Yes / no?

  • Version 4.30 should resolve both of the issues.

If you are continuing to experience an issue after verifying your watch is on version 4.30, it would best to reach out to Garmin Support to report the issue so they can gather more info from you.

  • Anytime I check for an update for my S62, it says I'm on the latest version (4.20).  How can I get it and yes, I'm on the latest Garmin Express version etc.  Golf courses are open in Western Canada and I'd like to have a functional watch when I tee off in the morning.  My 7 wood (which 4.30) supposedly fixed is in the bag again this season so I'd things to function.

  • All good now.  Looks like the update finally showed up.

  • I’ve just experienced the same issue you’re describing. I needed a 7 wood so I amended the 3 hybrid to read 7w and it appeared above the Driver in the watch list. No problem I thought I can live with that as during my round it identified the club correctly. However the next time I initiated a new round, up popped the unassigned club notification. I just ignored this and eventually the course graphics appeared on the watch and performed correctly throughout the round. Having read this blog I messed about with various combinations and fingers crossed my 7w now appears in the list in the correct order and the unassigned club notification doesn’t appear any more. One thing to note if you delete the club any associated stats can still be allocated to its replacement as the shot is still recorded on all your saved scorecards. If you open up each hole you’ll see all the shots you’ve hit, including the one’s with the club you deleted this can be edited by selecting the reinstated club from the list. Hope this helps

  • Thanks - do you know if you are on the most recent version of watch software and the golf app? Apparently this was fixed in the most recent version, and I have since moved my club back to the 7w, but have yet to play a round to see if they unassigned post-round.

  • Having only recently purchased the watch and sensors, I can confirm the watch software is up to date (SW Version 4.30) and the iPhone app version is 2.11.1.3.

It is possible to check whether the fix has occurred without visiting a golf club. Just select any course that appears on your watch and run through the normal start up sequence.

  • Hmm, I just started a round at a course near me on the watch, got to the first hole, and then ended round/discarded. My 7w is still showing as my 7w and nothing has been unpaired at this point. I will check again later, but it's also showing up in the proper order. I am tentatively saying mine is fixed, but I still feel like I need to go a real round with it (hopefully next Friday).  That is strange that you are having the issue - I am also on 4.30 and app (Android) 2.11.3 that updated Feb 23, 2023.

  • I wanted to bring this topic up again to along with any others following along. While the listed order in watch issue may be fixed with this current update, the ISSUE with the CT10 sensors UNASSIGNING from the newly added club (mine being specifically the 7w) is STILL AN ISSUE AS OF 4/17/2023. I played my first round of the season yesterday after removing all of my previous clubs, setting them up brand new in the bag, and setting my 7w to the proper 7w option.

My round went fine, and after completing the round and syncing (everything showing properly), I went back to my watch, checked the sensors, and the UNASSIGNED / UNKNOWN shows up where my 7w should be. This is NOT FIXED.

I know we were speaking about this last and I just wanted to confirm with you as well if you were also having issues.

To note, I am on watch software 4.30, synced with the most up to date Garmin Connect app and Garmin Golf application on Android (Pixel 7 Pro, fully updated to the latest OS).

Can we please get an update from Garmin? I can't keep re-syncing my CT10 sensors before every single round, this is becoming a very big issue that I flagged up half a year ago at this point.

  • Just responding to this as I can confirm that the CT10 sensors on the most updated software for watch/phone STILL unassigns any of the new club sensors after a round is played and completed as of 4/17/2023.
