CT10 Sensors / S62 unassigning 2 sensors after every round (Could be related to the new Golf club choices?)

Hi All - I have been using the CT10 sensors for the last 2 golf seasons and have had no problems with them. I set up a new set of clubs and while most of them are still 100% fine, I have found that starting the last 3 rounds brings up a notice that there is an "unassigned sensor". I am able to pair it again through the watch (prior to starting a round), works fine during the round, and then it happens again the next time.

The strange thing is, I only noticed this happening after the Garmin Golf update that added all of the additional clubs. For example, I had my 7w set up as a 5w prior (and never had an issue with it when set up this way). It's only unassigning some of the NEW clubs that were just added to the pick list, none of the standard ones that were there in the past.

I also added a Cleveland 42 chipping club last week, and noticed upon setting it up as one of the 9hybrid clubs (which I believe is also new), that it showed 2 unassigned clubs yesterday. I fully removed the clubs and sensors, rebuilt the clubs (and created the chipping club back down to a lob wedge), so we will see if it happens again.

The other issue that seems to stick out is that the newly updated clubs (7wood, for example) do not show up in the same order as they should in the watch. The 7wood is listed first, above the driver, which makes me think that I fixed the chipping club by making it a lob wedge, but the 7 wood seems still off.

Anyone else having this issue with some of the new clubs?

(Side note, the batteries are new, they connect perfectly fine once paired, and they work perfectly fine on the course).

  • Yup. I’m having the exact same issue since the new club update.

  • I can confirm that removing both the 7w and the chipper club (that were both set as newly updated club options) and moving them back to 5w and gw, respectively, has now fixed both the issue with how they are listed in the watch (order is messed up) along with the unpairing of devices after you go into a round and then sync watch to app.

sorry to tag you on this, but this seems like a pretty big issue across a couple of threads here and wanted to make sure if there was another place for me to open a ticket or something, I could do it so this could be looked at and fixed. I think it is also the issue for the non-sensor club list selection thread here: placement of new club types on watch after a shot - Approach S62 - Golf - Garmin Forums

    Thanks

  • Curious if there were any updates from this from Rob / Garmin - I saw Golf app pushed out a couple of updates over the last week but nothing mentioned around this in the notes. I don't want to start messing with my clubs again until there was some update mentioned in release notes or otherwise.. Thanks

  • Hello, I just got some CT10 sensors for Christmas to go with my S62 that I have had for quite awhile and I am having the same issue of the "unassigned sensors" after each round.  Is there a fix coming? I would rather not go back to Arccos.

  • Who knows?

Garmin is not famous for sharing their roadmap of upcoming fixes, or participating in the debate.

Yes, they introduced more clubs which was nice. And then there was a follow up issue that the new clubs were not in the correct order in my bag, creating all sorts of issues.

And then they fixed the issue with the order in my bag, but obviously forgot to fix the order on watches as well.

So there we are now, not knowing anything if Garmin is aware of the issue or if they have a plan to fix it.

  • Well that is a bummer.  Based on all of these comments, it does seem related to the new clubs.  I had also done that - meaning I have a 7wood that I used to list as a 5 wood, I think, but it used to show up at the bottom of the list on the watch. When the new clubs appeared, I changed it to a 7 wood and everything seemed to be fine.  But then I recently got a new chipper and a sand wedge, and added those to the PW hybrid and SW hybrid and then put the sensors on my wedges and that is when this trouble started.

Anyway, @odd tore do you have a workaround?  Thanks.

  • I noticed this shortly after they added the new club options in the application. It's 100% related to the new clubs, and I have provided support with all of my testing and processes to confirm that its absolutely an issue with any of the non-standard original clubs provided. The sensor unassigning is so obnoxious, and the only workaround at this point is to move a 7w back to a 5w, or something like that. While you can 'rename' it, it sucks seeing 5w in your statistics and recommended club on the watch. Same thing with a number of the hybrids that were added - you basically just have to make it another club in the 'bag'. Really wish that we could get some updates from Garmin on this, as it's been a terrible experience. Watch is great, software has been terrible... its been over 2 months since I flagged this up here.

  • @Kinematic - agree with  you 100%.  It is really disappointing.  I enjoy my S62 and was even thinking of upgrading it to the Epix Gen 2 with the AMOLED screen.  I can live with the fairly rudimentary graphics and stats in the Connect portal and Garmin Golf app as compared to Arccos.  But I cannot be fiddling with repairing, removing, re-adding sensors every single time I'm getting ready to start a round. It's beyond irritating.

  • When Garmin introduced the new clubs they came at the bottom in my bag in the Gsrmin Golf app.

They have fixed that in my bag, so the order there is correct. Problem solved for R10 users.

However, if You start a golf round on the S62, and then have a look at the club order in club statistics on Your watch, You will find the 7w on bottom of the list, after the wedges, and not after 3w or 5w if You have any of those. And this is causing the issue.

The quick fix would be for Garmin to correct the order also on the watch sw.

The quick fix for You is to reassign the 7w as a 5w. Back to square one.

  • Updated March 15, 2023: We have released version 4.30 for the Approach S62 which contains the fix the club list order for the new club options made available late last year.

Make sure to sync your watch using the Garmin Golf application, or through Garmin Express on a home computer to ensure the update is sent through to your watch.

Setting up the club list going forward, and adding the new club options should now work properly going forward.

More information on updates with the fix to the club list for other Garmin golf devices compatible with the Approach CT-10 club sensors will be made available once the fix becomes available.
