Hello Garmin Team,
do you have a specification document on the accuracy of the R50.
I woudl be interested which deviations in degrees we have to expect for club data as well as the deviation for ball data.
Thank you!

Has anyone gotten any feedback from Harmon on this issue?
I setup the monitor about 1’ to 1’6” away from the mat directly in front of where I hit the ball. I always align it and try to get the monitor parallel to my aiming line. I use the stickers to read the club metrics. It seems to read my launch angle, backspin, club path, face angle, and spin axis spot on.
I’m going to use a laser level to put a laser line down on the mat to check the accuracy of the alignment. I have a functional projector now too which is exciting now that I can aim at targets on the impact screen. The alignment will probably be spot on.
When I first tried to set the machine up with the alignment kit would only see one ball. I kept trying and finally got both balls showing up so I aligned it perfectly, still a mile out, so because the ball was always going left, I set the alignment up more right bias, it still went left. So I spent 2 hours mucking around aiming it left, right, in-between and could never get it accurate compared to the other monitors. My screen is 10ft from the hitting area, so I tried moving it closer and further way, it didn't make a difference to the readings. Maybe there are only a few of us with these problems, but I've taken this to the range as well and its still going left compared to over 100 shots at the range, so it can't be the set up at home, can it?
The way that I look at it, I now have 4 launch monitors, the R10, Rapsodo, mevo+ and the R10, I was hoping too get rid of 2 of them and have the r50 and the Mevo+ as a back up, but now looking at the results the R10, rapsodo and the mevo + are within 2 yards for distance and 3 yards dispersion which I think is ok, the R10 is the cheapest unit at £500, and yes its certainly not perfect but for the money its awesome, at least it shows the shot going to where it should be going even if its a few yards out, but the R50 is so far out its embarrassing. I hit one slice on purpose which on the 3 other monitors showed a massive slice to the right, on the R50 it showed a massive pull hook, granted it was only once it was that far off, but I had to laugh at how far it was out. Anyway I have now sent my R50 back to Golf Swing systems for them to check it out, I will let you know what they say once they have looked at it
Mine doesn’t work right. It went back to reading way too short no matter how I set it up. I was told to set it up at 10’ which seemed to make a difference, but I was never able to reach my normal yardages. I was able to get it to play 5 yards short at best. Then, it went back to reading 15+ yards short. The tech support guy explained that they haven’t heard of anybody having issues with carry distances, but I found R50 users who have complained about bad readings on this forum, Facebook, and Reddit where users have said that it reads 15+ yards short. Others have talked about backspin and spin axis reading way off. This isn’t something I can fix by tweaking the setup as recommended. This is a hardware or software issue, or both.
Yes I'm afraid they are telling lies. Set up.indeed, the bloody units are not working correctly, look at the others on here saying it isn't reading correctly, and what are garmin saying, oh you haven't set it up correctly? Really, terrible service for a £4300 brick, because rhats what it is, I'm back to using my r10 which is at least accurate and goes the correct way, I'm sure garmin are going to have many many returns of these units, it seems some are happy with theirs, so it's not all of them.
But they should be falling over backwards to help resolve this situation, instead on this forum two messages from them saying we are nit setting these up correctly, pathetic and wrong!!!!!
Yes a private message from Garmin saying that they have had no issues from customers about the units and that they have produced a quality product, I think they are just trying to hide the fact that they have rushed these out, and haven't tested them correctly
I’ve set mine up in 2 trackman sims, in my garage and outdoors. All produced pretty drastically inaccurate readings. Sending mine back today. Wish they had some real answers I would give them another shot since it’s such a nice and easy to use unit. Just too glaringly inaccurate.
If you took it to the range and saw wild differences then it’s got to go back.
how I determine the alignment is by chipping straight shots and watching what the R50 is showing. I set the alignment to zero and hit 15 to 20 yard chips. Then I will go back into the unit and use the alignment feature and do the same thing. Not every time since I don’t move it.
So hit straight chips and adjust the unit until it shows straight. Then take a pic of how far it’s off and post it or send it to the company you bought it from.
Garmin should be on the phone with you and trying a factory reset or something.

This is my first experience buying any launch monitor. I just got back into golf this year for the first time in a decade, but I was an avid golfer before so it didn’t take me long to find my swing. I was hoping to use something over the cold Winter to practice myself, but also to bring the course home to my dad who is a 78 year old Parkinson’s and Alzheimers patient. He was blown away with the R50 because he’s never really seen anything like it and he loved mashing foam balls in the backyard all year to keep his mind busy. Setting a golf sim up in the garage made him look like a kid in a candy store. The best part of the R50 for him is that it is so easy for him to use. It’s so intuitive that even he can power it up and start hitting balls in no time whenever he wants. He was a little bummed out when I had to tell him that I might have to send it back if we can’t get it working right. He understands that I might have to find a different solution because I can’t get stuck with a $5000 paper weight.
We may hear about more complaints if Garmin can’t get GSPro to work correctly. I bought GSPro subscription then found out it has major issues with R50.
They also pulled E6 from the 3rd party apps but still shows on other sellers websites as an option. Even YouTube videos show E6 in the connection screen. When I got mine and opened the connection app E6 wasn’t there.
