New R10 is Not Reading at All (New System Software Available - See Update)

I just received my R10 and it will not register any shots.  I used Garmin Express to make sure it was updated. I deleted the Garmin app on my IOS device and reinstalled it.  My setup is just as it is suppose to be according to the instructions.  It still will not register a shot. 

I installed the E6 software and tried a practice session there.  It connects and says “ready”.  Once I hit it says “calculating”.  It then says “Error! Check if device is connected”. Then it connects again and says “Ready”. 

I have contacted support and they are looking into it.  

Does anyone have a similar issue or a suggestion?

  • Well done Garmin. Update is working on mine also. So far all shots picked up in the outside net. Just need to try the range and indoors.

  • some good news... After updated software, my R10 is picking up every shot. I was hitting irons on Mat into a net at night in my backyard with lights! Distances for gap wedge and 9 iron seem accurate and in line with what I usually hit. Distance for 6 iron seem to be 50% off. hitting into net, I could not judge accuracy for direction, but seems reasonably accurate. Will try longer irons and driver again in day light and in the range and will report results. Thank you Garmin!

  • Now picking up shots but all yardages seem to be 20-30 yards out

  • Yes same here. Picks up the shots now which is awesome. But the yardages are down. I know I hit a driver 270 but I’m getting 230 max. 

  • Make sure you have at least 10’ between the ball and the screen or net to increase accuracy. Also make sure the garmin is 7’ behind ball and on the same level as the Matt to increase accuracy.

  • I tried mine today on the driving range and it works really well.

    The numbers were as I expected from former sessions with a Trackman.

    I think a slight deviation between the numbers especially Carry distance and what you see on the Range is possible, because of backwind or headwind, which the Garmin could not measure. 

  • Mine is now working 100% after installing 3.9. Prior to that, it didn’t detect a single shot. Really glad it’s just a software issue and no need to replace.

  • I take back any praise I gave it. It fails to detect around half of my shots and the shape of the long shots are ridiculous. It’s going back and I’ll save for the GC3. 

  • I was successful today with my R10.  I am hitting in a garage off of a matt in Michigan.  The golf balls are pretty cold so I am sure that has an impact on my distances. The E6 driving range seemed to be better than the Garmin driving range.  I hit my driver, 7 and PW.  My distances seemed to be about 20-25 yards shorter with the dirver and 5-10 with my 7.  The pitching wedge was mostly okay.  I will update this on Sunday after going to a friends house who has a warm indoor setup with a skytrak. It should be interesting

  • I received mine on December 26th. It’s never worked. It’s been in standby mode then I got blinking green but it won’t read any of my shots. 

    What phone number should I call? What should I do?
