Issues with Short Chips. R10 not Reading them.

Ever since the 3.60 update I have been having issues with my R10 not seeing short chips (anything close to the green where your backswing is significantly shorter).

I remember with 3.60 they did something to reduce the affect "club waggle" had in a preshot routine.  The R10 thought your swing was starting and then would miss your actual swing. Ever since that I'm having a heck of a time getting it to read chips. I have to use such a long back swing for a short chip to get the R10 to see the swing, it is extremely frustrating and will only teahc terrible habits.

I use my R10 indoors. R10 is 7ft behind ball and the ball is 11ft to the impact screen.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

  • Hey guys I’ve since made the faraday cage and it works! I put a video together to show the results. Cheers

  • SOLVED THE CHIPPING: I just picked up my R10 2 days ago and immediately updated to the latest software and used a laser to establish perfect positioning of 7 feet between r10 and ball and 8 feet from ball to screen. Set up in the garage on one side with plywood barrier 6 feet high  protecting summer ride! 3/4" interlocking gym floor 8x18 feet . The inability to chip drove me crazy. But I figured it out for me. I tend to take a slow backswing particularly, for chipping. Its not how much backswing I take but the speed of the takeaway. By taking it away faster, kind of like of "pop" putting style (like Snedecker) records even the smallest of chips for me now. Give it a try and let me know if you try accelerating the backswing if it helps.

  • I'm still getting this issue on up date 4.30? Surly I'm not only one

  • For me increasing the speed of your backswing(not length) definitely fixes this for me .  I can do chips of 3 yards carry almost all the time.

  • Hi I'm still having theses issues

  • Hey mate this might help you out.

    Cheers

  • Moved the R10 to within 3 ft

chips, bump and run are all good

moved 4 ft away for driver, all good now

  • I had problems with chipping because my style was basically putting with loft.  I am indoors with all the proper distances.  Two things helped a lot. One, turn off any fans in the room.  This changed chipping from 1 out of 10 read, to 10 out of 10.  Two,  turn off any Bluetooth enabled devices that the R10 will try to pair with. (Like your buddies phone in his pocket.)  Other things I have found helpful:  never run more than one program at a time that is trying to get info from the r10.  I noticed shots not registering, only to find half the round had been played in the program I had running in the background. Finally, I raised the r10 to 2 inches above the level of the hitting mat.  Hope all this helps.

  • Turn off any fans in the room!!  This cured my problem.  Also make sure no other Bluetooth enabled devices are turned off.
