I have been using the R10 for a couple days now and my distances seems way off. Seems very club is approx 20yards short from the range? Is there anything that needs to be done with calibration?

I'm a new owner couple days. Every club is ridiculously short. On real course I bomb 250 on bad hits....I struggle to get 180yds reading. All the irons seem like they are read like an 8I. Can't get…
Similiar problem for me, been using for a couple of days and all clubs are only recording 2/3 distance, checked the setup with a tape measure and spirit level and still the same problem. I have tried inside…
I want to love this thing had such high hopes and as is has become an enormous let down.
The ground is moving at a quite high speed, but that is another issue
For Your problem the lower club head speed will result in lower ball speed, and hence shorter distance.
The real big question is whether Your club head speed really is slower, or measured wrong.
No way for us to tell for sure, but the unit measures both club head speed and ball speed. And if both are down, then at least they are correlating, as they should.
I think reduced club head speed in back yard is more common than we like to admit, simply due to fear of missing the net. I have only tried with practice balls in the back yard, and found club head speed to be similar with range. But then of course ball speed was way off, due to the lack of compression You will get on these balls. But with practice balls I'm not worried about missing the net, and possibly kill a neighbor or two, so then I will swing as normal. Which the Garmin also tells me I'm doing.
I'm pretty sure that if You could match the club head speed with that on the range, You will get better results. But if this is done by swinging faster, og do some adjustments to the R10 placement, I'm not sure.
Club head speed for me is nearly the same from the outdoor range to indoor/net and even on a GC Quad. It’s the ball speed that is suffering mainly. This was not a problem pre 4.0 FW. There is no way a 90mph 7 iron produces a 92mph ball speed. The mevo+ is on the way, going to post some comparisons when it arrives.
Yes, this is something I've seen with my practice balls also.
Not necessarily that the ball speed is way off, I expect that, but a quite big difference between slightly different set up, and especially with low ball flights.
In one set up I got a ball speed of approx 100 mph with a club speed of 80 (driver). Smash factor approx 1,25.
Changed set up (and driver), and now got ball speed of 95 with club speed of 89. Smash factor 1,07.
Only change was in the first set up I had the R10 on a book behind the tee, in the second a magazine. So the unit was more raised on the first. Also possibly some small changes in distances between the unit, tee, and net, but not much.
I have not been able to investigate this further as the small periods with nice weather I have spent on the course instead.
I am sure the club head and the ball speed are measured wrong when i'm hitting into a net - but i don't get the reason. As i wrote in my first post: i swing the same way as i swing on range. even if i get at full speed and smack the sh... out of it the measured speed (club and ball) is 10 mph too low.
And You are on ver 4.2 on the unit, and 2.7 for Garmin app, and have set the correct distance between unit and ree in the app?
If Yes, I'm out of ideas, other than trying some small elevation changes for the unit, make sure it points in the direction You are hitting, and calibrated on a flat surface.
How about some acknowledgment? Calm this crowd down a bit. Obviously there are some issues in some setups (mainly indoor/net).
Completely agree 100% with this. I've had the unit several weeks and tried all this to resolve it as well. Was really hopeful when 2.7 was released but it's made absolutely no difference at all!
Totally unusable!!!
Seems to be a lot of opinions about distance accuracy. For me the new Garmin golf app that lets you set the altitude, humidity and temp has gotten my unit very close to my real numbers. I for one could care less what it takes to get the numbers right as long as they're close. I mean the Mevo plus radar unit has issues as well and it cost over three times as much.
Works fine, very pleased, worth every cent. I havnt updated to 4.2 yet as I have no issues with 4.0 ! Game changer for me.
I have updated to 4.2 and the distances are still short.
Modifying the altitude (1,500 m.) seems to be partially corrected, but I don't understand how Garmin does not correct the algorithm to make the data more real.
