I have been using the R10 for a couple days now and my distances seems way off. Seems very club is approx 20yards short from the range? Is there anything that needs to be done with calibration?

I'm a new owner couple days. Every club is ridiculously short. On real course I bomb 250 on bad hits....I struggle to get 180yds reading. All the irons seem like they are read like an 8I. Can't get…
Similiar problem for me, been using for a couple of days and all clubs are only recording 2/3 distance, checked the setup with a tape measure and spirit level and still the same problem. I have tried inside…
I want to love this thing had such high hopes and as is has become an enormous let down.
10-20% seems to be what all of us are experiencing in our indoor setups. On the range its working fine, so I'm assuming its maybe a close quarters issue? idk. I have 6 ft behind and 8 ft to the net so I'm within the recommended range.
I went to a 2 level driving range the other day that had a metal ceiling above me, and my readings were worse here than indoors. Most of my 180~ yard shots were coming up as 120-140. It has to be something with reflections, interference etc as indoors I have not been getting shots that short. I imagine that the driving range structure had something to do with it, whereas my indoors is pretty open. Definitely sensitive though to something.
Anything from Garmin on this ?
No metal should be on the box if this is the case
Garmin-Rob Do you know if anything is been done about the short distances in general based on investigations of returned units / the data against these and posts above. I think outdoor into a net seems to have alot of distance issue. What is it that is making it 40 - 50 yards out on Garmin Driving range and HTH? is it the software or hardware? is it a specific issue relating to a specific parameter such as ball speed, swing speed or launch angle etc?
I'm one of many struggling and 3.7 didn't seem to address probably the main issue based on the number of views and replies on this specific thread. Also i tried the calibration and did absolutely nothing. Anyone else have any luck with calibration and what it actually has improved?
Tried calibration as well with no difference afterwards.
I am waiting for another update or so. If there is not any significant change in the distance for indoor I am selling this. I have give it enough time to adjust and all that other jazz. They need to put an indoor mode option on the software. Its been proven for months now indoor distance is off by 20 percent. Its very frustrating,,
I agree with the frustration. The indoor distance issue diminishes the expected an d advertised experience. Packing my R10 up and sending it back for a refund.
Hi,
Had a long conversation with Stacy from Garmin Golf few days back. I had provided detailed comparisons for indoors and outdoors for my Driver, 7I and PW. Their conclusion was that i am not swinging fast enough indoors. This was based on the premise that ball speeds calculated by R10 are correct. As per them, the ball speed gets calculated in the first few feet of the ball flight and hence will be accurate regardless of it being used indoors or outdoors.
I still feel that the distance is short even on shots where i feel i hit it well and hard. Will try a final skytrack comparison before i return it.
Also Garmin doesn't fundamentally agree with 'indoor' compensations being built into the app as an option
Thanks Ravi
Can you share screenshots of similar strikes (swing speed, ball speed) made indoor and outdoor that have shorter distances or are the swing same swing speeds and ball speeds unattainable indoors?
if you have IOS and use E6 connect, you can use elevation settings to adjust distances.
I have R10 and PRGR red eye which quite accurately reads the carry distance. In indoor, the R10 is, like you all, give you 10-15% short, in carry distance compared to PRGR. The driver backspin sometimes, ridiculously went up to 4500rpm. The backspin reading is the problem, in my opinion. I gave up and sold my R10. I was happy that I have tried the R10, I am happier that I have sold the R10. No more indoor swing syndrome illusion.
