R10 distances seem off.

I have been using the R10 for a couple days now and my distances seems way off. Seems very club is approx 20yards short from the range? Is there anything that needs to be done with calibration?

  • R10 returned and refunded. I'm going to lurk to see if Garmin eventually get it working for most people.

Its a real shame- I liked the Garmin app.

The Mevo+ gets good reviews so small form factor radar should work.

I've gone down the 2nd hand Skytrak route (double the cost of R10)- which is probably best for an indoor simulator because the space requirement are less.

Good luck helping Garmin to get this right.

  • I've been having pretty good results with the R10 and driving range mode with 3.7 but had a really bizarre session with it yesterday. The R10 was periodically complaining about radio interference even though there was nobody else around and the range I go to is essentially a wide open field separated from the main course with nothing around for about 300 yards in any direction. The readings were occasionally good but more often then not I was seeing shots that were up to 60 yards short of the minimum carry distance that I could visually confirm (i.e. I saw a drive behind the 200 sign which I lasered at 220 because of the tee locations but the R10 gave me a carry number of 140) and even worse, I was seeing some ball horizontal launch angles that were 50-60 degrees off. I'm used to alignment issues causing the horizontal launch angle to be off in a consistent way, but aside from alignment I've always found horizontal launch to be dead on. I was getting baffled so started intentionally hitting some straight pull shots about 30 degrees left of the target line and the R10 was reading them at blocks to the right. Really bizarre  behavior and I'm just not sure what caused it all of the sudden, in general I've been lucky enough that for whatever reason the R10 readings have been very good for me at the outdoor range.

  • It seems pretty good on the range and course after update to 3.7.  might be a little short in the net, but I know it can't track as long there.

  • Not for me.  I’ve experienced similar to this review 3.7)

  • I am seeing the same thing. Everything seems to come up short.

  • My question for everyone is “are you playing on a concrete floor?”. I am having same issue with the r10 reading way short. I am also playing on a concrete floor in my garage but i am hitting off a mat. At the range my distances are accurate so i know it can judge it correctly. In the manual it says concrete could be an issue. If i roll out some carpet from the garmin to the net will that fix my issue?

  • I’m golfing in a garage, but I have turf rolled the entire length to the net and I’m still having issues inside.  Outside is pretty accurate but inside is WAY OFF!

  • I am playing in an unfinished portion of a basement with a cement floor. However, I have covered up the cement from the r10 to the net and slightly behind in hope that would help.

I am curious if exposed pipe could potentially have an impact?

  • Listen to us! Concrete floors, carpet, inside, outside, pipes, 7ft, 9ft, etc. We paid $600 for this fun

  • This unit is complete trash.  Did the update.  Did the Calibration.  Outside on range.  Distances are now shorter.  We know my kids numbers.  Swing Speed Reading low.  Ball speed close to correct but low.  Carry and Total WAY off.  R10 Officially a POS.  Should have never been brought to market.
