I have been using the R10 for a couple days now and my distances seems way off. Seems very club is approx 20yards short from the range? Is there anything that needs to be done with calibration?

I'm a new owner couple days. Every club is ridiculously short. On real course I bomb 250 on bad hits....I struggle to get 180yds reading. All the irons seem like they are read like an 8I. Can't get…
Similiar problem for me, been using for a couple of days and all clubs are only recording 2/3 distance, checked the setup with a tape measure and spirit level and still the same problem. I have tried inside…
I want to love this thing had such high hopes and as is has become an enormous let down.
I tested the replacement unit and the distances remain unchanged. Below are 2 screen shots . Old unit running 3.3 and new unit running 3.4. No change in distances .
It all starts with ball and club speed. If that’s read wrong, it’s all downhill from there …
Thanks for the update. I don't see screen shots. Is this into a net? How far from ball to net?
OK, replacement unit test: I hit into my 8.5' away net (outdoors) and got slightly farther readings but still *seemed* short. I took the unit and 7i to ***'s and put it next to the Trackman. Ball was 9'8" to the impact screen. 7i average total distance exactly matched my earlier session, and was typically within a few yards of the Trackman. A couple misreads on shot shape but they were infrequent enough to be surprising. Unit was a little high up to compensate for the raised hitting area. No laser or alignment stick like at home, I just eyeballed it.
A guy with his driver hit a few shots - he was not a long hitter with sub 200 yd drivers, but the measurements were close between units on distance and shape - within 5 yards.
Between the home and Trackman sessions I updated from 3.30 to 3.40. I used same Kirkland balls both places.
Without the Trackman I would have said "This seems like a club short," but I was hitting with no warmup in street clothes. At the range I'm generally warming up with wedges for a while before moving on to hit full swing irons. On the course I seem to hit a little farther for some reason and tend to overshoot my sim distances.
I realize woods are generally where some folks have been reporting issues, and I don't have longer drives to report, but my preliminary feeling is if this was a test at the store I'd immediately buy the unit. I'll try to test my Driver against the Trackman or GC2 over the weekend.
UPDATE Part 2 - I hit at the range and I was more mindful of waiting to hit when the bays next to me were not hitting. It captured 69 out 112 shots, i.e. 69/112 = 62%, thus it missed 38%. As for accuracy, it was more accurate than my last unit that was running on the 3.30 firmware update and had an error rate of about 30%. This time, with the older version of the firmware, the error rate was approximately 5%. However, at the time I hit a ball down the middle on a measured 245 carry (field markers & range finder) and no one else was hitting in the 5-6 bays to my right and left, it completely missed recording it at all. It was a sunny day but I kept the unit and my phone in the shade (blocked the sun with my bag) while I hit. I followed all the Garmin advice to align and space the unit (distance, level of hitting surface, etc.)
Dear Garmin-Rob, here's what I have to say and ask... I like the convenience of the unit, it's small, fits in my bag easily, the charge holds well, it connects well to my iPhone, it's fairly accurate when working well (on the old firmware)...However, I don't like the missed reads and I don't like the software app and its current capabilities:
1 - Will the last two points I made be addressed and improved in the future?
2 - Should I ask for a 3rd replacement unit that's from a completely different batch of units that were initially made?
3 - Are these software app, firmware, or hardware issues?
Suggestions for improving the software app on the phone:
1 - Buy a Rapsodo and see how they use the same type of data the Garmin collects to generate a screen that shows trajectory from a side view.
2 - Allow for exporting of data to excel and other apps users can use on a computer.
3 - Allow the unit to be connected to a computer so the user can look at the data and edit for mistakes, etc... essentially a Garmin Golf App that works on a Mac or PC
4 - Have a screen in the app that uses averages of each club to help golfers "map" their bag.
5 - Add club choices that are missing, i.e. many pros use a 7 wood but it's missing from the app choices.
6 - Allow the nicknames/lables of the clubs to be seen on the shot list... for example, there are many golfers that are deciding between one club or another and they test them out... as in, I have a 4 iron in a Ping Eye 2 and a Wilson and I would like to compare the performance of the two. I have tried, but the app does not allow me to distinguish the performance between those two in any screen.
7 - Allow the app to be rotated into a landscape position, it would make reading the information much easier on some pages.
8 - On the shot list where one can edit a shot, there's an option to change out the club. I did that on one particular shot because I hit a 3 wood when I still had the app listed as a 5 wood, BUT what happened was is that it changed all my 5 wood recordings to a 3 wood. That needs to be fixed.
I took my 4 hybrid and Driver to put against the Trackman. I'm injured at the moment so I committed to take it easy but added some effort to test as time went on. Because i had to use the tee, The the R10 started to the right of the Trackman but I put it in front. It was on it's case to elevate it since the hitting platform was about 1.5" up off the ground.
4h shots, which included a bunch of mishits, were very accurate. Carries around 165 yards. this was less than my typically game shots, but the Trackman and R10 were in agreement so I am wrong.
Some Driver examples:
R10 184 Carry, Trackman 183 Carry, same shot shape
R10 193 Carry, Trackman 198 Carry, same shot shape
R10 201 Carry, Trackman 211 Carry, shot shape was off with R10 showing more hook and Trackman draw. This was consistent with their relative positions as I'd placed it to the right of the Trackman. Side spin seems to increase need for good alignment. So if you hit big draws or fades alignment may be more important.
R10 208, Trackman 192, same shot shape. Trackman felt right on that shot.
I noticed closer readings0 at 95 mph clubhead speed than 100, but my session wasn't huge and some of that could be variance.
Since I find my 4h going 190-200 yards total on the course, and drives 240-260 yards on a decent shot (total I don't know my carry), I would say these would have felt short hitting into a net at home, but I can't really argue with a Trackman showing less.
YMMV
Hi Garmin
i have same problems as all the others also have especially from 5i - Driver
I have only been on the range.
Ball to hitting screen - 9 ft, ball to net 7ft
Unable to attach screen grabs
I would think after 15 pages of user complaints we'd have some form of update by now. I tried to contact support for a replacement and got the canned response of how to cover concrete and all the other tips/tricks.
Accept you have an issue would be much better...
