I have been using the R10 for a couple days now and my distances seems way off. Seems very club is approx 20yards short from the range? Is there anything that needs to be done with calibration?

The accuracy statement outlined on the Garmin site here Accuracy of Approach R10 Radar outlines the accuracy for radar following standard deviation true for the Approach R10. The algorithm derived metrics…
I'm a new owner couple days. Every club is ridiculously short. On real course I bomb 250 on bad hits....I struggle to get 180yds reading. All the irons seem like they are read like an 8I. Can't get…
Similiar problem for me, been using for a couple of days and all clubs are only recording 2/3 distance, checked the setup with a tape measure and spirit level and still the same problem. I have tried inside…
Same here - on most of my shots on the R10 I am 1-2 clubs short compared to my real golf distances. I believe we are many experiencing this - do we have anyone from Garmin here who can report at ticket…
Send some beta tests out. We will take care of the testing. This is ridiculous that all these people cant get some results.
If customers are being advised to replace a unit by product support, it is because they determined that specific unit was defective.
Some additional things to take into account when it comes to set up and the environment can be found at the following support article, many of these tips should be considered when experiencing any issues with inaccurate readings. If all else fails, contacting support would be the next step.
so we don't even know if this is a hardware issue or a software issue? Then how can Garmin guarantee that this will be fixed by firmware update then?? If I keep waiting for the firmware update then I may not be able to return this item before the refund due date. I just feel ike this whole thing is a big pile of mess that should have been addressed before you guys put this on the market.
Rob, what is the latest official line on this issue? The unit is unusable as it stands and without any offers of repairs / recalibration I will be returning the R10 fir a refund, Cheers Nick
The only way to test the true accuracy of this device is on the range. Like I mentioned earlier, I hit one dead center with a 250 carry, and the unit said it was a 180 carry with a 37 yard off center hit. This happened often plus many hits were not even recorded. I bought a large bucket (110 balls) at the range, and it only recorded 47 shots... 42,7%, thus it missed 63% of the balls I hit. I can be tolerant with a "close enough" measurement, but to swing through more than half the bucket to no avail, it's f-ing annoying. If I didn't pay $600 for it, it would have ended up in the lake.

OK, sorry, but that's laughable. Here's what I would add to this farce: Other materials that may impact performance: grass, artificial turf, graphite and steel shafts, canvas or leather golf bags, 2,3,4, & 5 piece golf balls, nylon netting, air, lunar cycles....
I just returned it back to ***'s Sporting Goods. *** this pile of garbage. I'll order a Mevo+ tomorrow.
I repeat: DO NOT ORDER THIS PRODUCT.
Looks like instead of challenging the Mevo +, this product from Garmin will be the best thing that ever happened for it…
If you want something that just throws out random numbers, buy a dice - it’s a lot cheaper. I received an email from Flightscope offering a ‘special price’ on the Mevo + (the R10 might have some use after all…..) . Bye bye R10 pre-order.
I went to the range again to test it out again with some of the new tips shared here. I hit off mats at the range and i propped the tripod/r10 on a folded towel to raise it at the level of the mat. I measured about 7 feet away (2 driver lengths) and aligned exactly with the ball. Short irons and wedges were pretty close to accurate, but the longer the clubs got, the less accurate it got. Once i got to driver on the rubber tee, I tried raising the unit up further to account the for the tee height. Whether the tripod was on the ground, on the towel, or propped up higher, the driver was completely off. My average is around 215-225 carry. With this unit, I could barely get 200 yds total! Spin was all over the place, club head speed was wildly inaccurate, apex was nowhere near accurate, and forget about spin numbers. I don't think there was 1 valid metric. Didn't matter where I put it or how I aligned it. Of the 45 balls I hit with the driver, I only had 1 shot that seemed to kinda measure correctly (216 carry / 235 total w/range ball) But it also said I hit 107 yards to the right and 1000rpm spin... so who really knows what's up. At least the distance was accurate...but it's just a hot mess. I'm going to put a support ticket to get it replaced... and if that doesn't fix it... then it's getting returned! I know people are comparing it to $20k units, but even at $600 (which is no small chunk of change) if the numbers aren't even close, then what's the point? I can someone accurately guess distances by just looking up and seeing how far it went. Even if it was $99, if it's not even somewhat accurate.. then it's useless.
