Visual Studio Code plug-in often erases device selections in manifest.xml

In SDK 8.1.1, I have noticed that while working in Visual Studio Code, the plug-in erases my Garmin device selections in manifest.xml. This is annoying and time-wasting.

There is no way to recover them and I have to reselect the desired devices again. I have not been able to pinpoint what action causes this to happen.

Is it erasing every device or a select few? The next time this occurs can you open the manifest in the text editor rather than the manifest editor UI to see if the devices still exist there?

It erases all devices. When I go to the text editor mode. The device selections are gone. Comments are preserved. By default the manifest editor is activated. If I had a preference, I would use the text editor always because of this problem. And I always edit the app version which cannot be done from the manifest editor,.

An additional problem is that sometimes the enabled permissions get duplicated. This causes a compiler warning but is not fatal.
