I built a Watch Face, which I'm currently testing for myself in unpublished Beta. I've had no issues for the past few weeks getting and keeping the latest version on the device. Starting yesterday I began noticing an unusual behavior where I'd install the latest version I published to the store (in Beta mode) via Garmin Express, but my Connect IQ iphone app is still showing an older version. In addition, the watch is periodically getting reverted back to a prior version (most likely by the Connect IQ phone app).
Here's what I'm seeing:
- The web portal at App.garmin.com is showing the latest version (0.0.23) (link to private page)
- The Connect IQ app on my phone is showing an older version (0.0.17) and continues to show an "Update" button available
I can't seem to take any action that will get the Connect IQ iPhone app to display the latest version (0.0.23). And it seems to keep pushing the older version to the device after some unknown period of time.
Environment:
- Connect IQ mobile app (2.19.0)
- Garmin Express Mac (7.15.0)
- Epix Gen 2 (10.44)
- Garmin Store Watch Face GUID: 9df6d855-68af-46fd-986c-a1507077de96
Steps I've taken to fix it:
- Clicking the "Update" button on the Connect IQ iPhone app shows it run through the "Installing" & "Updating" flow, but at the end the old version gets installed on the device and 0.0.17 continues to show in the Connect IQ iPhone app
- I uninstalled and reinstalled the watch face by Connect IQ mobile app -- but the Connect IQ iphone app still shows the older watch face version
- I uninstalled and reinstalled the watch face using Garmin Express Mac -- but when the Connect IQ iphone app shows the watch face, it still shows 0.0.17
- I tried closing the Connect IQ iPhone app, reopening it, uninstalling the watch face, closing the Connect IQ iPhone app, reopening the Connect IQ iPhone app, and installing the watch face via the App.Garmin.com store (while not having it plugged into Garmin Express) and then watching the Connect IQ app go through the install process. This didn't change anything
The only way I can get the latest version onto the device is to plug it into the computer, run Garmin Express, and then click "Download" from App.Garmin.com. Then I can go to the "Apps" page in Garmin Express and click the "Send to Device" icon next to the watch face. I've toggled off "Auto update" in the Connect IQ iPhone App to see if that will prevent the on-device software from being overwritten with the prior version.
Since toggling off Auto update" I can now see "Updates 1" available for the device, and it's showing the older version there.
