[UX] When scrolling installed CIQ watchfaces on a device, app names are not shown

Device = FR955

This is a device issue, not a CIQ issue, but I'm posting it here for visibility.

I think this is a bad user experience because the user doesn't have a direct way to identify the watchface that's currently selected (unlike, say, Apple Watch, which displays the name of each watchface as you browse through the installed faces.)

For example, if I want to uninstall a watchface using the on-device Connect IQ store app, each watchface in the store app is only identified by the app name and icon. If it's a watchface I don't use very often, I may not have its name memorized. For example, I recently installed 2 new CIQ watchfaces with fairly generic names, and when I wanted to uninstall one of them using the on-device store, I wasn't sure which one was which.

The workaround is that the user has to use the Connect IQ store on their phone and look at the app listing image (or screenshots.)

I think it would be very helpful for a watchface's "action menu" (which is displayed when you through the watchface list and press START) would either contain the name of the watchface, or have an "Info" menu item which would display the watchface name (and possibly other information.)

  • Similarly, it would be great if the name of the currently selected watchface was somehow available via the watch UI.

  • I mean the simplest use case is I've scrolled to a CIQ watchface in the list and I simply want to know the app name (for whatever reason). Maybe someone else likes it and they want to know how to get it.

    Rn unless I have the name memorized, the only way to know would be to whip out my phone (if I even have it with me, which I don't when I'm out for a run.)
