Unable to Open App message

In running a Connect IQ activity app, it runs the first time without a problem, but when I try to run it again, I get "Unable to Open App" "Close the [watchface name] app and try again"  displayed on the screen.  I switch to a different watchface and try again, and it complains with the new watchface name.  Even with Garmin built in watchfaces the problem occurs.

Actually trying any Connect IQ activity app that was working before, even Garmin's Connect IQ Store app, now seem to exhibit the same problem.

Using a Fenix 7 series with Software Version 23.48

  • I just had a similar (maybe?) issue. I created a new app. The user exits the app from a menu, where System.exit() is called. When I ran it for the 1st time and exited, everything seemed ok. But a few minutes later I wanted to start a Walk activity, but when I click Start from the watch face, all I see is IQ! I can't go down in the apps & activities list, can't start any app or activity. Watch face (CIQ) and glances, widgets do work though.

The only way I could fix it is to restart the watch.

  • Yeah, not quite.  The problem happens for me both where I use System.exit() and when I don't.  I never get an IQ! error.   I can run Garmin built in activities like walk, run etc, but no Connect IQ apps after the problem happens.  Yes and a restart clears the block, but that is an absolute pain because for some reason I can't turn my watch on without connecting the charger.  A user would never accept that as a workaround.
