The watch (Garmin Instinct and Venu SQ) is counting steps while driving a car on a bumpy road.

I noticed that my Garmin Instinct and my wife's Venu SQ it increases the number of steps while we are driving the car on a bumpy road.

  • ​I have the exact same issue with my Instinct 2X Solar Tactical Edition (firmware 17.11).

    ​Today, I conducted a test to isolate the issue: I took the watch off my wrist and placed it directly on the car's dashboard while driving on uneven, bumpy roads. The result was absurd — the watch registered over 2,000 fake steps during the drive, even though my actual physical step count for the entire day was barely 1,000.

    ​The software clearly fails to filter out vertical chassis and dashboard vibrations, mistaking them for human heel strikes. Turning off Move IQ does absolutely nothing. Garmin needs to fix this accelerometer threshold ASAP.
