Simulator: Settings > Manage Sensors is a blank dialog on Windows

- SDK 8.1.0

- Windows 11

On Mac, the dialog is displayed properly (although it crashes if you try to use it - I will open a separate bug report for this).

Note: I don't have any of the following things: nRF52 dev kit, nRF52840 dongle, or ANT+ USB stick

  • If I remember correctly it only shows sensors I'm a very specific scenario. I also saw it empty for years (why are you opening a window again and again, if you know it'll be empty, you could ask ;) but when the new sensor pairing was announced, then for the first time I was able to see my sensor in the list (Mac)

However it only showed in certain cases. It wasn't random, but depended on the order of things like when I connect the dongle, when I open the simulator, when I run the app in the sim, when I open the Manage Sensors window. I don't remember the winning strategy, but it might be similar in windows, it's worth to try some combinations

Thank you for this comment. Hope I'm not misunderstanding, but it sounds like are you saying the dialog is rendered properly but it just doesn't show any sensors (kinda like my Mac screenshot from before)? I'm basing this on your comment "for the first time I was able to see my sensor in the list (Mac)" which implies that the *list* was previously empty, and not the dialog itself.

I meant something entirely different. I guess I will have to elaborate, even though I tried my hardest to explain it simply.

    > it has the proper title, it can be resized, but the dialog body is just a blank canvas

I did not mean that the Windows simulator shows an empty sensor list as in the Mac screenshot, I meant that it is literally a blank dialog.

Here's what it looks like in Windows.

Hopefully this screenshot makes it clear that it's not just some known expected issue where the sensor list is inappropriately empty.

It's a completely blank dialog. There's no add button, empty list of sensors, or any contents at all. It's clearly broken.

Even if there is a theoretical workaround to make the sensors dialog render properly, tbh I'm not really interested in that at the moment. My only goal was to make Garmin aware of the bug. (Although I do appreciate the help).
