Please confirm whether data field layout differences between Instinct 2 and Instinct E / Instinct 3 Solar are intentional (wrt to subscreen)

Based on the sim / device reference, it seems that:

For Instinct 2...

- There is no 1 field layout

- Every layout includes a dedicated field for the subscreen. e.g. 2 field layout consists of a subscreen field and field that covers every part of the screen except the subscreen

For Instinct 3 Solar / Instinct E...

- There is a 1 field layout which covers the entire screen (including subscreen)

- For n > 1, every n field layout is the same as the corresponding n+1 field layout on Instinct 2, except that there is no dedicated subscreen field. e.g. 3 Field Layout A on Instinct 3 Solar is the same as 4 Field Layout B on Instinct 2, except that the dedicated subscreen field is not present on Instinct 3 solar.

In other words, it seems that:

- In instinct 2, a CIQ field could be assigned to the subscreen

- In Instinct 3 Solar / Instinct E, a CIQ field cannot be assigned to the subscreen

Could someone from the CIQ team please confirm whether this understanding is correct?

A dev mentioned that it would be a shame if CIQ fields can no longer use the subscreen in the newer Instinct devices.

Based on this comment from another thread, it looks like I2 never allowed you to assign a CIQ field to the subscreen.

On real I2 devices, you can't set a 1 field layout for data fields.  The minimum is 2, with the subscreen being one of the fields, and you can only set it for native data field, not CIQ ones.

If that's the case, I absolutely understand why these changes were made, as the old behaviour (I2) was misleading [led devs to believe CIQ fields could be assigned to the subscreen] and new behaviour (I3 solar) makes it explicit that CIQ fields cannot be assigned to the subscreen.

It does seem that the new (I3) 1 field layout is substantially different than the old (I2) 2 field layout, as the I3 1 field layout apparently allows the data field to draw on the entire screen. including the subscreen. Idk what the situation is on a real device though.

I guess it's impossible make certain changes to the layouts now [like renaming "4 field layout A" to "3 field layout A"], but would it be possible to change the simulator so that it doesn't suggest that CIQ fields can be assigned to the subscreen?

e.g. The instinct2s 4 field A layout looks like this:

Can the subscreen be changed to a black square (as it is in I3), or maybe the dimensions could be changed to 0 x 0 or something?

And can it be explicitly documented that CIQ fields can't be assigned to the subscreen (for all of the Instinct devices which have one)?
