onSelect behavior for enter key for Venu and Vivoactive inconsistent

In the simulator, the enter key for the following models DOES NOT trigger the onSelect behavior:

Vivoactive 3

Vivoactive 4 (all models)

Venu 2 (all models)

For the following models, the enter key DOES trigger onSelect behavior:

Vivoactive 5

Venu 3 (all models)

I tested a real Venu 3S and there it seems the enter button DOES not trigger onSelect. So maybe the simulator for the Venu 3 models and Vivoactive 5 is incorrect?

  • I updated the initial post, with the finding that maybe the simulator for the newer models is wrong (at least for the Venu 3S it seems that way).

  • Relevant comment that kicked all of this off:

How do you indicate to users there that they can tap on the screen on devices that do not have a select button? Like the Vivoactive 3?

Vivoactive 4 and Venu 2 series seem to have a button in the 2 o'clock position but it does not select. Is this really the case or is this another simulator bug? Buttons of Vivoactive 5 and Venu 3 series in the same positions do select.

As noted in the linked thread, a real Vivoactive 3 absolutely does not use the sole button to "select". Short press of button opens the activity list from the watchface, starts/stops the timer within an activity, and returns to the watchface in all other contexts. To "select" (e.g. select menu item, open widget, open activity), you have to tap on the screen.

The manuals for VA3, VA4 *and* VA5 also refer to tapping on the screen to "select", but never talk about using a button to "select".

I think it is possible that VA5 and Venu 3 *also* use the top button to select (as reflected in the sim), but that doesn't mean other watches (like VA3, VA4 and Venu 2) are the same.
