This could be a bug with the simulator fonts, but chances are good that this is a known issue.
There is a limitation in te simulator don’t format that restricts the number of bytes used for the glyph pixel data. In order to support multiple languages, we have a lot of glyphs and this forced us to reduce the color depth for the font glyphs.
We already have a ticket to revamp the font format to avoid this issue, it just has not got the attention that it needs.
