Hello,
I use a Forerunner 255 for kayaking. At the moment the stroke rate is only recorded by a Connect IQ app, as a developer field (stroke_cadence, mapped via nativeNum to the native cadence field of the record message).
The problem is that platforms which only read the native cadence field, such as Strava or Garmin Connect's own TCX export, never receive it. On those platforms the activity has no stroke data at all.
Would it be possible for the native Kayak / Paddling profile on the Forerunner 255 to measure stroke rate with the wrist accelerometer and store it in the native cadence field (strokes per minute), as the rowing profiles already do? Is this on the roadmap? That way the stroke rate would reach Strava and every other platform without relying on third-party apps.
I can send the FIT file of a sample activity (Garmin Connect activity 24718968610) if it helps.
Thank you
