Mobile Connect IQ store - app updates are only available with an extrem delay of several hours

After updating an app in the developer dashboard the Connect App displays the app update within several seconds but when you open the Connect IQ store app the update of the app is not available immediately.

It takes several hours or up to half a day until the updated version is available in the store.

When you update the app/watch face or widget in the Connect mobile app this leads to an inconsistency to the Connect IQ store mobile app. The Connect IQ store displays an app update to a previous version and falsely allows the downgrade.

  • it has noting to do with that IMHO, the problem happens no matter what the auto update setting is.
    There are numerous other bugs in CIQ app, that are annoying, but since millions of users use it and only a small fraction complain (if at all) they won't put a high priority on them. But this bug really is so annoying. Sometimes I spend more time working around this stupid delay bug by bumping the version number, bulding, uploading new version twice within a minute just to enable me to see my beta app and test the settings that can't be tested any other way 

  • I also encountered this many times (forums.garmin.com/.../bug-new-version-is-not-available-in-store-only-the-text-fields-are-updated). Today it happened again. Some more info in my case:

    1. I uploaded BETA app for testing

    2. I uploaded a new version and it showed up immediately.

    3. But then a few minutes later I uploaded another new version to fix a bug, and this change is not seen in the CIQ Store Mobile Android app. Changes to the "what's new" text do show up immediately.

    The following scenario is also what happened 2 months ago so I wouldn't be surprised if that's part of the problem that I uploaded 2 new versions close to each other in time.

  • 2 years later and this issue is still there, how is it possible? It's a mess to work with beta versions especially. For the live app some users get the update, i saw in the crash reports, but i do not see it myself.

  • I wondered. I actually turned off auto update in Connect IQ app as it seemed to get confused with Connect app and constantly (and wrongly) tell me I needed to update.

    That would certainly explain it.

  • It seems that the connect iq store app points at the previous app version that was uploaded.
