Major bug: 3rd party watch faces not returning to always-on after notification

I'm using Venu 3. When I am using any 3-rd party watch face downloaded from Connect IQ there is a problem.

When I receive a notification and wait (not click "Dismiss" or back button), then the watch returns to home screen BUT not in always on, low-battery mode. It stays is active mode with seconds hands moving and display bright. It keeps this screen on indefinitely unless I press the Back button - then it again goes nicely to low-battery mode.

It should instead return to home screen in the low-battery mode with display not moving and dim. It works like intended with all native watch faces. The problem is only with downloaded watch faces.

For me this is a major issue because this absolutely drains battery or causes screen burn in.

Does anybody know if there is a fix planned? I assume its not the developers fault as all 3rd party downloaded watch faces (I tried 4-5 different ones from different authors) seem to have the same issue. Seems like a watch firmware bug.

  • Update: I thought I had got rid of this bug since version 10.20 but I encountered now a watchface (https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/6f732feb-510c-4dab-b4c2-57db8deb8d01) that seems to still have a very similar problem. After notfication comes in it does not resume into AOD mode. Although it also is not fully active - there is no moving second hand. But its not in full AOD mode as well - its not interlaced screen and has all elements. This is what I mean: 1drv.ms/.../s!AkJQJi2MA4Gt0dYudAyr3ImMntdYKA

  • Same issue still with custom watchfaces in Venu 3 beta version 10.08.

AOD on, raise wrist off. Custom 3rd party watch faces still returning to blank (black) sceen or remain in high-energy mode (with second-hand moving) after notification causing annoyance and creating battery drain and probable screen burn in.

  • Pls fix this asap as it drains the battery of the watch very quickly.

  • Is there any plans to fix this issue? Cannot use any 3rd party watchfaces until this is fixed in order to avoid burn in and battery drain. Should I post about the issue in Venu 3 forum?

  • Hi, is there perhaps some information on when its safe to use third party watchfaces with Venu3 again? Will the fix be in the next patch? Thanks!
