GPS broken in fenix 6 widgets

I've had several fenix 6X users tell me they don't get a GPS fix when trying use Connect IQ widgets.

The most detailed comment said

  • things used to work but no longer do - with no change to the installed widget
  • it happens in widgets written by both me and other developers
  • a device app he tried is OK
  • Garmin support say it's a developer issue

The bug has shown itself with firmware 24.84 & 24.85 and maybe others.

I'm prepared to accept I and others have done something wrong (though I don't think we have) but I can't track the issue down. Everything is OK in the simulator.

I don't have access to a fenix 6.

Has anyone else hit this?

    When the user says it "used to work" do you know when the last version that did work was? I have had similar reports sporadically for my METAR/TAF widget over the past 6 months or so but have never been able to replicate on my Fenix 6 Pro.
