  • From the user perspective.... The end user doesn't know anything about apps, widgets... He simple look into widget list and see e.g. psx-7 and build in HR widget. And they run in the different way on system level - it's simple not good and cause problem for dev to support such situation. And answer is the system limitations, I can do anything with it...

BTW, psx-7 is built as widget because it supports older devices.

Yeah, that's fair but we know that on a newer device it is a really device app. I guess it doesn't matter so much in this case. But I gave examples of how the change from widgets to device apps with glances has affected the user. One very obvious example is that if you use the Connect IQ store app, you cannot search for the "widget" app type because it does not exist.

In general, I think precision is important when discussing technical matters.

Anyway, my main point was that I extensively tested your scenarios on my FR955 with firmware 22.24, and I thought everything works as expected:

    - Native activities/apps and CIQ apps which record an activity use the Display > During Activity setting

    - Native apps and CIQ apps which do not record an activity use the Display > General Use setting

I should also note that if an activity is currently being recorded, then every screen on the watch will use the "Display > During Activity" setting (including native settings, native glances, the controls menu, stopwatch, timer, etc.)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're not testing this while an activity is being recorded (by returning to the watchface / glance list using a hotkey), right? Based on the following text, I don't think so:

  • On my watch f7 20.22 when settings is  'gesture off during activity' and 'touch is off during activity'

    - without starting activity

--psx-7 started from widget list doesn't react on gestures

--any build in widget started from widget list reacts on gestures

    - when activity is started and active and I switch to ciq watch face so the watch face is in foreground, general rules should be active but the watch face

    -- doesn't react on gestures

    -- also touch doesn't run
