The gesture doesn't switch the light on

The gesture in the stock widgets switch the light on but not in CIQ widgets.

  • I was not able to reproduce this issue on a Forerunner 965, Fenix 5 Plus, or a Fenix 8 - 43mm AMOLED. The PSX-BarNote widget behaved as intended when the gesture setting was turned on for General Use. The backlight would come on when triggered by a gesture. When the gesture setting was toggled off for During Activity setting, I was able to verify that the backlight would not be triggered by a gesture on the aforementioned devices when performing an activity (i.e. Run).

but this is precisely the behaviour PSX is complaining about, if I'm understanding you correctly.

    My understanding:

    - Actual behaviour: the gesture setting for During Activity takes effect when opening PSX-BarNote widget/glance while an activity is running [in the "background"]. [Because "During Activity" applies even when an activity is in the background]

    - PSX's expected behaviour: the gesture setting for General Use takes effect when opening PSX-BarNote widget/glance even while an activity is running [in the "background"]. PSX's understanding of During Activity is that it should only apply when an activity is in the foreground, but I don't think this matches reality.

Note that the actual behaviour doesn't just apply when opening PSX-BarNote (or any glance) while an activity is running, but also when doing anything else while an activity is running in the background [like looking at the watchface, changing system settings, etc.] To me it looks like Garmin's behaviour is completely consistent.

From my perspective it's not a bug, it's a difference between user [PSX] expectations and Garmin design/implementation.
